I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Gregory Perkes at 1:30 p.m. in the Council
Chambers on the first floor of City Hall.

III. MINUTES
A motion was made by Ted Stephens, and seconded by Frank Hastings to approve
the minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 23, 2009. A roll call vote was taken and
the motion passed.

V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Case returning to the Board from the Regular Meeting of March 26, 2009.
1. 3726 N. Saxet Dr. residence (Saxet Hts, Lots 19 & 20 Block 6)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: Flor Mazeda
Motion: A motion was made by Frank Hastings, seconded by Ted Stephens to
amend staff recommendations to allow repairs to the structure(s) according to
Section 13-26 (G) (1) (a) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in
which the owner be allowed fifteen (15) days to obtain the proper permits and
start repairs to the structure(s) located at 3726 N. Saxet Dr. residence, (Saxet
Hts, Lots 19 & 20 Block 6) and if repairs are started, an additional ninety (90)
days be allowed to complete the repairs. If repairs are not started and completed
as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was taken
and passed unanimously.
2. 1633 Wallace Dr. detached garage (Peary Place #1, Lot 10 Block 2)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: Matt Casey
Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
amend staff recommendations to allow repairs to the structure(s) according to
Section 13-26 (G) (1) (a) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in
which the owner be allowed fifteen (15) days to obtain the proper permits and
start repairs to the structure(s) located at 1633 Wallace Dr. detached garage,
(Peary Place, Lots 19 & 20 Block 6) and if repairs are started, an additional
forty five (45) days be allowed to complete the repairs. If repairs are not started
and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and passed unanimously.
VI. NEW BUSINESS

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
accept staff recommendations to allow repairs to the rear addition of the
structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (a) of the City of Corpus Christi
Code of Ordinances in which the owner be allowed fifteen (15) days to obtain
the proper permits and start repairs to the rear addition of the structure(s) located
at 4201 Cambridge Dr. residence, (Edgewood Park, Lot 22 Block 3) and if
repairs are started, an additional sixty (60) days be allowed to complete the
repairs. If repairs are not started and completed as required, then the City is
authorized to demolish rear addition of residence. A roll call vote was taken and
passed unanimously
2. 922 Cunningham St. residence (Swantner Place, Lot 31 Block 4)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed sixty (60) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 922
Cunningham St. residence (Swantner Place, Lot 31 Block 4). If the
demolition is not started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to
demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
3. 2427 Francis St. residence/accessory structure (Phillips 66 Lot 6)

accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2427 Francis
St. residence/accessory structure (Phillips 66, Lot 6). If the demolition is not
started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll
call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
4. 2615 Goliad Dr. residence/storage (High Terrace, Lot 24 Block 4)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Frank Hastings, seconded by Ted Stephens to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2615 Goliad
Dr. residence/storage (Hiqh Terrace, Lot 24 Block 4). If the demolition is not
started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll
call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
5. 4316 Hollywood Terrace. residence (Hollywood Terrace, Lot 11 Block 2)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
table this case to the November 19, 2009 regular hearing. A roll call vote was
taken and the motion passed unanimously.

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2817 Lawton
St. residence (Harlem Park, Lot 19 Block 5). If the demolition is not started
and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
8. 2500 McCain Dr. (2) mobile homes (1) garage (Highway Terrace 2, Lot 7 & S80' of
Lot 8 Block 7)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
amend staff recommendations to allow repairs to the garage according to
Section 13-26 (G) (1) (a) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in
which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain the proper permits and

start repairs to the garage located at 2500 McCain Dr. garage, (Highway
Terrace 2, Lot 7 & S80' of Lot 8 Block 7) and if repairs are started, an
additional sixty (60) days be allowed to complete the repairs. If repairs are not
started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish
garage. A roll call vote was taken and passed unanimously.
Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the (2) mobile homes
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed sixty (60) days to remove or obtain
proper permits and complete the demolition of the (2) mobile homes located at
2500 McCain Dr (2) mobile homes (Highway Village 2, Lot 7 & S80' of Lot 8
Block 7). If the removal or demolition is not started and completed as required,
then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion
passed unanimously.
9. 2033 Sherman St. residence (Midway,Lot 20 Block 6)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee Carter to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2033 Sherman
St. residence (Midway, Lot 20 Block 6). If the demolition is not started and
completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call vote
was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
10. 2938 Sonora St. residence/detached garage (Tom Price, Lot 2 Block 1)

accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2938 Sonora
St. residence/detached garage (Tom Price, Lot 2 Block 1). If the demolition is
not started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A
roll call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
VII. IDENTIFY ITEMS FOR FUTURE AGENDA
Discussion and possible action regarding draft ordinance to convert board to
commission.
Discussion and possible recommendation for appointment of new board member
fill vacancy.
Discussion and possible action to elect a Chairman of the board.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Ted Stephens seconded by Renee Carter to adjourn the
hearing at 3:30 p.m. on September 24, 2009.
