HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Cable Communications Commission - 06/20/2011MINUTES CABLE COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION JUNE 20, 2011 PRESENT Chairperson Steve West, Leo Estrada, Latrice Sellers ABSENT Vice Chairperson Connie Gutierrez CITY STAFF Lisa Aguilar, Assistant City Attorney, Kim Womack, Director of Public Information Mr. West called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. and verified the necessary quorum. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING ABSENCES None NOV 2 9 2011 CITY SFCRElARY'S OFFICE REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING MINUTES Ms. Womack clarified one change to the minutes from May regarding Mr. Ruben Saldivar (New Vision Apostolic Church) was in attendance and the program will remain off the air for 60 days due to failure to turn in tapes was left off the minutes. Ms. Womack recommended approval as amended. Ms. Sellers motioned to approve as amended, Mr. Estrada seconded and all present were in favor. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING COMMISSIONER RECOMMEDATIONS Ms. Womack referred Commissioners to agenda packet and list of people interested in serving on the Commission. After discussion, Ms. Sellers motioned to recommend Mr. Harper to City Council for appointment, Mr. Estrada seconded and all present were in favor. Mr. Estrada expressed his interest in reappointment and Ms. Sellers affirmed her request to not be reappointed. Ms. Sellers motioned to recommend Mr. Estrada to the City Council for reappointment, Mr. West seconded and Mr. Estrada abstained. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING VIOLATION APPEALS Mac Aipperspach (First Baptist Church), Alicia Villarreal (Day of Pentecost) and Reynaldo Madrigal (Original Coffee Club) failed to provide a written response or appear in person regarding alleged violations. All producers have until July 28, 2011 meeting to respond. Producers listed in the violation summary for failure to turn in tapes Louis Frances (Friendship B.E.A.T), La Tonya Pullam (Friendship Baptist Evening Service), Leo Hillard (Friendship Baptist Midweek), Kevin L. Pullam (Friendship Baptist Morning Service) and Jay Bowers (Calvary Baptist Evening) did not appeal with in writing or in person and will remain off the air for failure to appeal. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING RULES AND PROCEDURES FOR PUBLIC ACCESS The item is scheduled to go before City Council for review prior to the next meeting of the Commission. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING MEDIA DELIVERY LOGS Ms. Sellers motioned to accept the May Channel 18 PAUG media log and was seconded by Mr. Estrada, with all Commissioners in favor. Mr. Estrada motioned to accept the May Channel 10 PAUG media log, Ms. Sellers seconded motion with all Commissioners in favor. PAUG UPDATES Channel 10: Mr. Gordy noted they had a smooth running and ask to be notified when the Rules & Procedures date for City Council review was confirmed. Channel 18: Mr. Nesmith noted everything was running smoothly. PUBLIC COMMENT None ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING Mr. Estrada moved that the meeting be adjourned, Ms. Sellers seconded the Commission agreed and the meeting adjourned at 12:26 p.m.
