HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Cable Communications Commission - 06/16/2014 MINUTES CABLE COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION June 16, 2014 PRESENT Amy Aldridge Sanford, Korey Hardeman and Lyle Smitson ABSENT Mary Ann Kelly and Walter DeVille CITY STAFF Lisa Aguilar, City Attorney and Kim Womack, Director of Public Communications Mr. Smitson called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m. and verified the necessary quorum. CONSIDERATION FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES Mr. Smitson motion to excuse Dr. Sanford's absence with Mr. Hardeman seconding; all Commissioners present were in favor. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING MINUTES Mr. Hardeman motioned to accept the May meeting minutes with Dr. Sanford seconding; all Commissioners present were in favor. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING MR.DiCARLO'S COMPLAINT Mr. DiCarlo discussed his complaint regarding some producers turning in the same show with different show name and producer but it is the same content. He claimed that this is monopolizing the channel. He also said this prevents diversity of programming. Mr. Smitson, Mr. Hardeman and Mr. DiCarlo had a discussion about what constitutes have a show/program. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING RULES AND PROCEDURES Mr. Smitson said he thinks that proxies are needed but there should be limitations. After discussion the issue was tabled until all Commissioners are present and staff can bring recommendations. Issues that need to be addressed: 1) Proxies 2) Faux producers 3) Name of the shows 4) Continued shows Ms. Womack said it is time to update the Rules and Procedures REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING DELIVERY OF PROGRAMMING TO CITY OFFICES Will be tabled and will be part of the Rules and Procedures. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING PROGRAM GUIDE No response from Time Warner. REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING MEDIA DELIVERY LOGS Mr. Hardeman motioned to approve Channel 18 media delivery log for May with Dr. Sandford seconding; all Commissioners present were in favor. Dr. Sanford motioned to approve Channel 10 media delivery log for May with Mr. Hardeman seconding; all Commissioners present were in favor. PUAG UPDATES Mr. Gordy said everything is going smoothly. The Channel lost four programs but added two programs. He explained that Channel 10 and 18 have identical programs. Same programs can't be shown on both channels. Mr. Suver was absent. PUBLIC COMMENT None AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING Rules and Procedures ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING Mr. Smitson motioned for the meeting adjourned at 1:10 p.m.
