Cynthia C. Garcia proposes discussing the items out of order—discussing item#2 first
then proceeding to item#1.
Item#2:Election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission.
Member Jose Moncada nominated member.John P. Silvas to be Chairperson.Member
} Butler seconded the motion.Motion was passed.Member Butler nominated
member Jose Moncada to be Vice-Chairperson. Chairperson Silvas seconded the motion.
Motion was passed.
Item#1:Review and approve the minutes of the 480th and 481st Civil Service
Commission meetings held on April 25,2006 and December 18,2006.
Vice-Chairperson Moncada moved to approve the minutes as written. Member Eileen
Butler seconded the motion.The minutes were approved.
Item#3: Discuss and determine the appointment of three physicians as appropriate,
Pursuant to the Rules and Regulations of the Civil Service Commission for
Firefighters and Police Officers,City of Corpus Christi,Article V., Section 2
(B)Examination of Eligibility Lists.
Commission members reviewed the list provided of three physicians. Chairperson Silvas
made a motion to accept all three physicians. Vice-Chairperson Moncada seconded the
motion. The motion was passed.

Item#4:View the required SB286 Open Meetings Training video as required for all

All three Commission members viewed the required training video.
After discussion of the training video,Vice-Chairperson Moncada voiced his interest in
attending trainings held for Civil Service hearings. Cynthia C. Garcia stated the City
would be able to accommodate that request.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
