445th MEETING OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

Chairperson Lehrman called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m.
Item # 1: Review and approve the minutes of the 444th Civil Service Commission
Meeting held on February 9, 1999. Member Martinez moved for the minutes to be
approved as written. Chairperson Lehrman seconded the motion and it passed.
Item#2: Review and consider the appeal filed by Fire Captain Bernabe M. Martiiez,
of question# 7 of the Fire District Chief Promotional Exam administered March 23,
1999.
The City presented support for answer "A" and recommended the appeal be denied.
Captain Martinez presented support to invalidate question#7.
Item# 3: Review and consider the appeal filed by Fire Captain Bernabe M. Martinez,
Fire Captain John R. Paige and Fire Captain Daniel Woodson of question # 10 of the
Fire District Chief Promotional Exam administered March 23, 1999.
The City presented support for answer "C" and recommended the appeal be denied.
Captain Martinez and Captain Woodson presented support for answer "A" or to delete
the question from the test.
Item#4: Review and consider the appeal filed by Fire Captain Bernabe M. Martinez,
of question# 38 of the Fire District Chief Promotional Exam administered March 23,
1999.
The City presented support for answer "C" and recommended the appeal be denied.
Captain Martinez presented support to delete the question from the test.
Item# 5: Review and consider the appeal filed by Fire Captain Reuben C. Garza,Fire
Captain Bernabe M. Martinez and Fire Captain Daniel Woodson. of question # 68 of
the Fire District Chief Promotional Exam administered March 23, 1999.
The City recommended the answer be changed to "C"because it was keyed incorrectly.

The Commission went into closed session at 5:35 p.m. and reconvened at 5:42 p.m.
Chairperson Lehrman stated the Commission was ready to rule on the appeals to
questions to the Fire District Chief Promotional Exam administered on March 23, 1999.
Chairperson Lehrman recommended the following: Item# 2, the appeal to question # 7
be denied, Item # 3, the appeal to question # 10 be denied, Item # 4, the appeal to
question# 38 be upheld and the question deleted from the exam and,Item# 5,the appeal
to question#6g be upheld and the correct answer changed to "C".
Member Martinez seconded the motion and it passed.
After no further business,the meeting was adjourned at 5:45p.m.
