SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
Monday, February 10, 2014 5:30 p.m.
1st Floor Staff Conference Room
City Hall, 1201 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX
AGENDA
I. Call to Order- Dr. Ridge Hammons 5:42 pm
II. Roll Call of Members-
Present: Hammons Butscher Etheridge Kollaja Hodge-Gambrill Silva
Not Present: Dow Willms
Staff: Talbert
III. Adoption of Minutes:
1. December 2 2013 (Special meeting) Hodge-Gambrill motioned; Silva second; all in favor
IV. Public Comment- None
V. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
1. Approve April 15, 2014 for Presentation to City Council
Kollaja motioned; Hodge-Gabrill second; all in favor
Presentation will include a brief description of the data collection project; how to access the
data; policy recommendations and action items; information on Community Connections forum.
Stacie will draft presentation and distribute for review.
VI. Old Business for Discussion and Possible Action
1. Workshop to develop plan for Data Collection Plan distribution and promotion
Group approved three areas of focus for cause of juvenile problem behaviors: 1) Extreme
economic deprivation, 2) Family Conflict; 3) Lack of Favorable parental attitudes or influences.
Stacie should create an action plan for each of these areas based on comments during
meeting.
Strategies for distribution include council presentation, follow up one-on-one meetings with
policy makers, community connections forum and follow up lunch and learns.
Community Connections Forum to be held in the first half of August 2014; will include
presentation by Dr. Rhoades, session on how to access the information, 3 panel discussions
focused on 3 risk factors mentioned above; closing comments and request for information from
service providers and invitiation
