REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Monday, October 20, 2014 5:30 p.m.
1st Floor Conference Room
City Hall, 1201 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX
I. Call to Order- Dr. Ridge Hammons 5:34pm
II. Roll Call of Members-
Present: Hammons Dow Beck Schwartz Etheridge Andrich Kollaja
Not Present: Silva Butscher
Staff: Talbert Anaya
III. Adoption of Minutes: Special Meeting October 4, 2014 for approval. Andrich motioned; Schwartz
second; all in favor.
IV. Public Comment- NONE
V. Old Business for Discussion and Possible Action
1. Review Plans and Strategies Developed at CCY October 4, 2014 Workshop
Notes and draft 2014-2015 Worksheet provided and reviewed by members.
Edits to distribution of DCP: Targeted distribution letters should use thumb drive
with DCP instead of hard copy; look at Outside the Box for purchase of thumb
drive; discussion to hand deliver letters to each board member of targeted group
Edits to Reconnecting with youth goal: Beck and Anaya will work to establish a
calendar of meetings with youth groups (at CCY regular meetings or group
regular meetings). Etheridge turns 21 in March —need to consult with city
secretary office to determine if she can stay on through her term. Discussion
about recruiting youth to fill her spot. Expand net and recruitment to include
college freshman, non-traditional leaders; use of counselors at schools to assist
with recruitment.
Edits to Next Step for DCP
Consensus on looking at GAP Analysis. Look into adding data sets on foster
children, homeless youth; human trafficking statistics to next DCP update.
Edit to support local efforts to address risk factors: revert back to large
Community Connection Forum in August to highlight programs addressing risk
factors and perhaps showcase EDI information collected by United Way their
three target neighborhoods. Host small luncheon in Mar/April for grant writing
workshop (for appx 50 people). CCAR will help with food, $$$ for grant. Partner
with Coastal Bend Community Foundation on large grant writing workshop in
September
