REGULAR MEETING
Monday, February 27, 2017 5:30 p.m.
City Hall, 1st Floor Conference Room
1201 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, TX
Members of the audience will be provided an opportunity to speak during the meeting. A recording is made of the
proceedings. You must first identify yourself by name and address. Then state your point as briefly as possible when
addressing the Committee. Presentations will be limited to three (3)minutes.
Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need an accommodation is requested to contact the Parks and
Recreation Department at 826-3463 at least 48 hours in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
MINUTES
I. Call to Order by Becky Perrin at 5:30 pm
II. Roll Call of Members- Hope Herrera— Parks and Recreation —absences: Melissa Hofstetter, David Dow
III. Adoption of Minutes: Regular meeting minutes for October 17, 2016 1st, Gilbert Trevino, 2"d, Jon Gain
No minutes November 21, 2016— no quorum.
IV. Public Comment
Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the Commission on Children and Youth (CCY)
from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes them to do the
following:
1. Make a statement of factual information,
2. Recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or
3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later date.

VI. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
• Election of Officers—Chair, 3 votes for Melissa, Vice Chair 3 votes for Gilbert
• Update on Gap Analysis
o Requested that all the committee reviews the information, not confident that the
information is trustworthy
• Community Coalition Forum Planning
➢ Set date for Forum
Maybe we shouldn't do a forum with the report being untrustworthy and share that information
with the public
• Westside Business Association talking about doing a forum, wanted to know if we wanted to
help them with theirs, so we could piggy back with them for what we wanted to do and maybe
focus one area of town at a time since the needs are different depending on location
o Motion to support that we join the Westside Business Association 1st, Gilbert
Trevino, 2"d, Donine Schwartz
VII. Old Business for Discussion and Possible Action
VIII. Staff Liaison Report— Becky Perrin
➢ NRPA—Julys is Park& Rec Month "Get Your Play On"
➢ Accreditation —coming up on submittal at end of March
➢ Park Sale Update—A few parks have sold and we are collecting funds for them and
some are still for sale
➢ Park Updates—West Guth and Salinas Parks have received new equipment through
grants and bond money
