CALL TO ORDER—Chair, Gloria Jackson called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m. Chair, Gloria Jackson led the Commission in prayer. II. ROLL CALL—The recording secretary called roll and announced a quorum was present. III ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES FROM THE WORKSHOP MEETING OF OCTOBER 14, 2002— Liana Gonzales made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted. Penny Grochow seconded. The motion passed. IV. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC—none V. BUSINESS - (Drew Reining arrived at 5:36p.m.) A. New Business- Presentation of the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition's application for Block Grant Funds Resolution by Joe Alley and Javier Vasquez. Mr.Alley and Mr.Vasquez described the work of the Probation Rules Enforcement Program and how their work coordinates with that of other County and City organizations. A statistical report demonstrating the improvements achieved wakalso given. (Barry Abels arrived at 5:42 p.m.) Chair,Gloria Jackson read the resolution and lead discussion. Barry Abels made a motion to approve the signing of the resolution,with the correction of the word'inventive'to'incentive'. John LaRue seconded. The motion passed. B. Old Business— Summary of the Sub-Committee work on the four identified Risk Factor's portion of the Master Plan review project was lead by Linda Hodge and Robin West. The committee discussed the compiled drafts and asked Ms. Hodge to complete their revisions and email the new drafts to them before the next meeting. The December meeting will continue this work. Gloria Jackson requested a summary of the recent CCISD EducationSCAN Summit. Robin West said they hope to have a preliminary report by February. COMMISSION CONCERNS: Linda Hodge asked for volunteers to attend the Community Initiative Connection meeting scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2002. Drew Reining, Vicky Alexander, Penny Growchow and Paula Rosenstein will attend. All others were urged to attend if possible. Paula Rosenstein said there will be a Nueces Children's Advocacy Walk,Wednesday, November 20th beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mary Jackson noted National Family Week is the week of Thanksgiving. VIII. REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION,AGENDA ITEMS: none IX. ADJOURNMENT: As there was no further business, Barry Abels moved to adjourn at 6:55 p.m. Drew Reining seconded. The motion passed.
