CALL TO ORDER: Chair,Vicky Alexander called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. II.ROLL CALL: The recording secretary called roll and announced a quorum was present. III.ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES: REGULAR MEETING April 18th,2005 Liana Gonzales made a motion to approve the minutes. Margaret Canales seconded. Motion passed. IV.ACTION ON ABSENT MEMBERS: None taken. V. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC: No members of the public wished to speak. VI. BUSINESS: A. OLD BUSINESS 1. Children's Impact Statement Drew Reining stated that Bob Payne should be scheduled for the June meeting to give the commission an update. 2. Luncheon The Commissioners discussed the recent Community Connections Luncheon. 3. Update on Commissioner Vacancies It was discussed that commissioner recommendations would go before the City Council on 5-17- 05. B. NEW BUSINESS 1. National League of Cities Visitors • Andrew Moore from the Institute for youth, Education and Families and Jack Calhoun introduced themselves and their work with disconnected youth. 2. Youth Council Report Youth involved in the efforts to form a local Youth Council and their supporters introduced themselves to the Commission. Brian Silva gave a presentation on the efforts of the youth of Corpus Christi to form a Youth Council. SCANNED A � � VII. COMMITTEE/STAFF REPORTS: Linda Hodge agreed to bring the luncheon evaluations to the next meeting. VIII. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT AND COMMISSION CONCERNS: Linda Hodge reported that July is Parks and Recreation Month and activities will be available with an emphasis on inclusion. The City of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department is collaborating with the Committee on Persons with Disabilities to provide programming and will want the Commission's endorsement. IX. REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION,AGENDA ITEMS:- None. X.
