A recording is made of the proceedings,therefore, it is requested that presentations be limited to three (3) minutes and you first identify yourself, give your address, and state your point as briefly as possible when addressing the Committee. Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need an accommodation is requested to contact the Park and Recreation Department at 880-3464 at least 48 hours in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Minutes I. Call to Order: 5:31 pm II. Roll Call of Members III. Adoption of Minutes: Regular Meeting, September 17, 2007—minutes adopted IV. Action on Absent Member(s)-Amanda Stukenberg (AE), Miles Toren (AE), Guy Nickelson (AE), Rita Morales (AE) and Aaron Delagarza (CCY did not decide oh absence) V. Hear from the Public VI. Business 1) New Business: 1. Welcome/ Introduction of new CCY Commission Members: JD Villarreal and Fran Wilms introduced themselves to the Commision. In addition, the tenured Commission members introduced themselves and discussed the areas in which the represent. 2. Continue discussion on the CCY Children, Youth and Family Platform a. Discuss new presentation date (10/30/07): Margie Rose advised that the CCY members who could attend and the Chair who will be presenting should be at the Council Chambers at 10:00am. Sally Gavlik and Margie Rose mentioned that it is difficult to predict the time that the "presentations"will start. b. Discuss presentation options: Sheri Phillabaum ( CCY Chair) was nominated to "present"the Children, Youth and Family Platform/Resolution to City Council. The CCY members who wanted to be there for support purposes and to also assist in answering City Council questions about the platform would be able to sit at the "council chambers table" which is next to the presenter podium. Amanda Stukenberg motioned for the Chair to do presentation- Dr. Garza seconded the motion. Motioned passed. Dr. Sheri Phillabaum accepted and agreed to present the CCY platform/resolution to City Council on 10/30/07. c. Review CCY Children, Youth and Family Resolution drafted by legal department. CCY members reviewed and approved SCANNED the Children, Youth and Family Platform and the Resolution that was drafted by the City of Corpus Christi Legal Department. 3. Discuss NLC Conference that was held in San Antonio- Valerie Villarreal and Amanda Stukenberg discussed the NLC Conference which was held in San Antonio, Texas. Valerie Villarreal discussed that the underlying message that • she got out of the conference was for municipal leaders to not only"care"what they do but to."believe" in what they do. Valerie Villarreal also mentioned that partnerships were discussed at length and that collaborative partners need not lose their identity but the partnership should look like a "recognizable mosaic". Amanda Stukenberg advised that she noticed that there were many executive and elected leaders who attended the conference and that there was very few youth attendees. Amanda Stukenberg advised that there was so many ways that other cities are implementing philosophies and programs that are geared to assist youth and families in their communities. Amanda Stukenberg also mentioned that it was a great place to network and learn how other cities are implementing similar to the Children, Youth and Family type platforms. VII.
