New Business:
1. Parks and Recreation's Juvenile Assessment Center's Expansion Proiect
a. Discuss ways that the Commission would like to support the JAC Expansion
Valerie Villarreal asked the Commission members in what ways they would like to
assist in the JAC expansion. CCY asked Valerie Villarreal to bring a proposal so they
can get a better understanding of the JAC expansion effort. Commission members
advised that they are supportive of the idea of expanding to encompass prevention
efforts and to increase community stakeholder referrals;however, they would like to
see a proposal from Parks and Recreation so they will know where CCY efforts will
be best utilized. Chair advised that it is apparent that at this point CCY is supportive
but a proposal is needed so they can decipher"how"to support the JAC expansion
effort.
2. Commission Vacancy
a. Discuss religion representative vacancy
Valerie Villarreal asked the Commission members to refer individuals who are
representatives of the religious realm to apply for the Commission vacancy. One
member made a referral for"Judy Strong";hence, this Commission member has
already discussed this matter with "Judy Strong". Valerie Villarreal advised that she
will contact Ms. Judy Strong and send her the "bio form"for application. Another
Commission member referred Valerie Villarreal to the Catholic Dioceses for names
as well. Valerie Villarreal advised that she will contact Catholic Dioceses for potential
applicants.
3. Community Connections Event
a. Discuss purpose of event:
Chair asked Commission members what is the purpose of the event. One member
advised that initially it was to utilize the City's new Youth Advisory Commission. In
addition another member advised that historically the event was more `youth and
social service focused':
b. Discuss what is the message the Commission wants to convey to the community
Many Commission members advised that it may be time to take their annual
"connections event"towards a "new direction"since the format has been the same for
the past several years. In addition, some discussion covered the date of the event.
Many Commission members felt that a "Fall event"would be appropriate because it
gives the Commission time to coordinate the event. Chair asked the Commission

baseline budget for the data collection. The amount was sent through the approved
budget process and was in the amount of$78,357.50. Valerie Villarreal advised that
purchasing did not have historical data on a data collection of this magnitude;hence,
Parks and Recreation utilized an inflation rate formula to calculate the initial baseline
budget for the data collections set.
b. Status of budget process
Valerie Villarreal advised that the budget process has already started and that Parks
and Recreation will have several meetings with the City's leadership to discuss the
funding of projects. In addition, Valerie Villarreal asked the Commission members to
attend certain City Council meetings and discuss their data collection project during
