Summary of Minutes for June 4, 2014
1. CALL TO ORDER
Vice-Chairperson Alana Manrow called the meeting to order at 3:03 p.m.

Vice-Chairperson Manrow stated this item was previously discussed on 5/7/14.
4. APPROVAL OF ABSENCES FOR 5/7/14
No absences were requested. Committee members must be present to request their own
absences for the prior meeting.
5. APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF 5/7/14

6. PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES)
a. Abel Alonzo thanked city departments and staff members for attending the "I believe in
me foundation" Walk/Roll/Run event held on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Mr. Alonzo stated
the event had a great turn out for it being the first annual event and is excited for next
year.
b. Lori Hill, Costal Bend Center for Independent Living (CBCIL) provided information
regarding the Governor's Committee survey for people who use para-transit in Texas.
Ms. Hill requested committee members take the survey and spread the word for others
to take the survey as well. She then mentioned she would leave the informational
handout at the back of the room by the extra meeting agenda's and public comment
sign in area. (Handout provided is attached at the end of the minutes)
8. STAFF REPORTS/COMMENTS
c. Engineering — ADA Projects
Jamie Pyle spoke regarding ADA and CDBG Application Update. Brief discussion
ensued.

7. PRESENTATIONS
a. Texas Lions Camp for children with disabilities
Lynde Todd, Texas Lions Camp Provided a DVD video along with a folder filled with
handouts and various camp information. Brief discussion ensued.
8. STAFF REPORTS/COMMENTS
a. Human Relations Division — Monthly Performance Report
Sylvia Wilson provided and discussed her May 2014 monthly performance report to
Commissioners. Brief comments/questions by Committee members.

b. Development Services Department— Department Overview
John Speights provided verbal updates on Residential and All Construction Summary
Reports for May 2014. Brief comments/questions by Committee members.
d. Parks and Recreation — Quarterly ADA Parks Improvement/Projects Update
Stacie Talbert reported on the May 2014 report. She also briefly discussed a "My Summer
Play List" flyer she provided to the committee as well as informing the Committee on the Bay
Jammin events that are to take place every weekend at Kids Place Park.

e. CCPD Parking Control Department— ADA Citation Trend Update
Juan Perez gave explanation for absences the last two months. He then provided the
Committee with Citation counts by officer report. Brief comments and questions
ensued.
(A copy of the reports will not be attached to the minutes due to confidentiality)
9. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
a. Engineering Subcommittee — Update
Sylvia stated the Subcommittee reviewed a priorities list of projects to be given to
Engineering for consideration regarding curb cuts and ramps. After a few revisions the
list subcommittee will be called to meet later this month for approval and will provide a
report next monthly meeting.
b. Public Service Announcement Subcommittee — Update
Alana Manrow stated she was still waiting on Sylvia to provide her with paperwork
regarding the PSA to get it started. She then stated since the next PSA will be on
accessible parking she would like for Parking Control Juan Perez staff member to assist
in creating the video. Mrs. Manrow stated she would like all members to be present for
the next meeting as she would like to have a group photo taken to place on the CFPWD
Face book page.
10. CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
a. CFPWD Projects and Supported Events Calendar on Human Relations Website
Mrs. Wilson stated she and Chairperson Ramos wanted to provide updates on two
outreach events held in May 2014. Vice Chairperson Manrow stated the Rubber Duck
Round Up event was held 5/24/14, had an estimated 1,000 attendees and raised just
under $24,000. She thanked staff members for attending and assisting. Abel Alonzo
decided not to provide an update as he had previously done so under the Public
Comment Item.

11. IDENTIFY ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON NEXT AGEDNA
Committee Member Marshall Burns questioned why the committee hadn't received any
information regarding his request to revise the City Ordinance regarding sidewalks and
right ways. Mrs. Wilson stated Engineering Department has committee that has been
advised of the CFPWD request. The Committee has not been able to meet due to other
Engineering projects, however was advised the Engineering Attorney that she will provide
a report to the CFPWD as soon as the Committee reconvenes on working on the
Ordinance change. Brief discussion ensued.
No items were requested by Committee members to place on the next agenda.
