CALL TO ORDER Chairperson David Ramos called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m. a. REQUEST FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES Mary Bustos and Richard Balli Due to health reasons and David Ramos due to work commitment requested excused absences for the 6/4/14 regular meeting. Motion — Marshal Burns Second — Richard Balli Motion Passed 3. APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF 6/4/14 MOTION-1 Motion — Mary Wambach Second —Alana Manrow Motion Passed 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES) a. Mary Wambach, citizen of Corpus Christi informed the CFPWD of a letter she received at her home from HOMESERVE a residential water line company out of Austin, Texas. Ms. Wambach stated her concerns about the letter possibly being a scam. She stated she would email the letter to several city departments to look into. 5. PRESENTATIONS a. No Wrong Door — Aging and Disability Resource Center, by David Ramos David Ramos stated he is now working with Costal Bend Council Governments, under that umbrella is Area Agency on Aging and Costal Bend Aging and Resource Center. Mr. Ramos then elaborated on the foundations of the organization and its various programs. Mr. Ramos spoke particularly about the "Linking Support Services for Older Adults & Their Caregivers" program. Mr. Ramos provided a brochure and flyer to the CFPWD members. Mr. Ramos also stated he has been in contact with various apartment properties to confirm their if their accessible units are in fact accessible, he will then provide information to the CFPWD on a later date. (A Copy of the brochure and flyer are attached at the end of the minutes) 6. STAFF REPORTS/COMMENTS d. Parks and Recreation — Quarterly ADA Parks Improvement/Projects Update Stacie Talbert reported on the Mayor's Big Bang Celebration, held on 4th of July. She also Page 1 of 7 mentioned North Beach, beach walk collapse into the bay due to corrosion. Parks and Recreation are currently working with Engineering to see what type of plan can be put into place for citizen accessibility. Ms. Talbert stated, that she recalled at a previous meeting Committee member Richard Balli inquiring about the use of a more current ADA symbol. She said the new "Active" symbol will be put in place at the North Beach parking lot. Photos will later be provided to the CFPWD. a. Human Relations Division — Monthly Performance Report Sylvia Wilson provided and discussed her June 2014 monthly performance report to Commissioners. Brief comments/questions by Committee members. (A copy of the report is attached at the end of the minutes) b. Development Services Department — Department Overview John Speights provided verbal updates on Residential and All Construction Summary Reports for June 2014. Brief comments/questions by Staff and Committee members. (A copy of the two reports are attached at the end of the minutes) c. Engineering Services Department — ADA Projects Update No report provided due to Mr. Bray's absence. e. CCPD Parking Control Department— ADA Citation Trend Update No report provided due to Mr. Perez's absence. 9. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS a. Engineering Subcommittee — Update No update. b. Public Service Announcement Subcommittee — Update No update. Alana stated she is still waiting on letters from Mrs. Wilson. 10. CHAIRPERSONS REPORT a. Update Chairperson David Ramos stated he has no particular update however he would like the CFPWD members to participate some way, somehow with the community. He mentioned the Human Relations Division has added an event calendar to their website and invited members to look at it and share any upcoming events. He also stated he would like to see more of an audience in attendance of the CFPWD meetings. Mrs. Wilson suggested CFPWD regular monthly meetings can be held offsite, to draw more of an audience.
