Summary of Minutes for August 2, 2017
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Balli called the meeting to commence at 3:28 P.M.

2. Requests and Approvals for Excused Absences — Excused absences for the August
meeting were requested and approved for Mary Bustos and Dalia Gutierrez. Said
absences were due to medical reasons.

3. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes of 07.05.17

4. Public Comments — None
5. Presentations (Limited to 10 Minutes)
A. Area Agency on Aging and Disability Resource Center Services — David
Ramos, Coastal Bend Council of Governments — Mr. Ramos stated he works
for the Coastal Bend Council of Governments and the Area Agency on Aging. He
provided information on the efforts being made to provide more affordable housing
in the area. He encouraged the members to attend the Coastal Bend Housing
Training Event scheduled for August 23, 2017 at the Coastal Bend ADRC, 2910
Leopard St., Corpus Christi, Texas. (A copy of flyer for the event is attached to
the Minutes.)

6. Staff Reports/Comments
A. Human Relations Division — Performance Report— Sylvia Wilson commented on
the statistics for the month of July 2017 and stated she would email information on
the Housing Training event Mr. Ramos referred to in his presentation.
B. Development Services Department— Department Overview— Gilbert Garza stated
that he was unable to generate a list for the month of July and reported that his
department is working to expedite the ramp permit process.
C. Engineering Services —ADA & CIP (Community Improvements Projects) Update -
Kevin McCord stated that he did not have an update on the status of ADA curb
ramps at the Ramsey and Houston Street intersection. Mr. Balli stated that RTA
could possibly share the costs of the project and Sylvia Wilson offered to provide
the contact information to Mr. McCord.
D. Parks and Recreation Department— Lisa Oliver stated that regarding the
requested improvements to basketball courts at Salinas Park, the estimated cost
to add a tall fence would be a minimum of$10,000.00. In the interim, she
suggested the use of the Joe Garza basketball court and that the Committee
request in writing the addition of the fence at Salinas Park. Ms. Oliver also
reported that Phase 2 of the Accessible Recreation Park is pending CDBG
approval for the funding. Regarding the possibility of conducting a meeting at the
Greenwood Senior Center, Ms. Oliver recommended that the meeting be held in
the morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM for the members of the community to
participate. Mr. Balli replied that he would discuss it further with the Committee
and report back to Ms. Oliver.
E. CCPD Parking Control Department—ADA Citation Trend Update
Luis Rocha provided the ADA Citation Count Report for July 2017 and answered
questions from the members. (A copy of the report is attached to Minutes.)
7. Subcommittee Reports
A. Engineering Subcommittee — Mr. Balli said he had met with Mrs. Wilson and they
would be setting up a meeting with Engineering and then a meeting with the
Subcommittee members.
B. Public Service Announcement Subcommittee — Marshall Burns did not have an
update for the Committee.
C. Accessible Recreational Parks Subcommittee — Richard Balli commented that
Phase 2 is pending the CDBG grant approval currently under City Council review.
D. Community Volunteer Involvement Subcommittee — Dr. Zoccolillo did not have an
update for the Committee but encouraged the members to volunteer for the
Operation Safe Return event on August 12, 2017.
8. Chairperson's Report—
A. Mr. Balli again mentioned Operation Safe Return on August 12th from 10:00 AM to
2:00 PM at the American Bank Center Exhibit Hall. He also stated that RTA has
offered to share the costs of the Ramsey & Houston Street project.

B. Round table information —The possibility of a future meeting at the Greenwood
Senior Center was discussed. Dr. Zoccolillo stated he would not be able to make
a meeting at 10:00 AM since all his classes are in the mornings. It was agreed
that an email would be sent out to request input from the members.
