Call to order @ 3:10 PM 2. Moment of Reflection 3. Dr. Anthony Zoccolillo led the Pledge of Allegiance 4. Roll Call Committee Members Present: Richard Balli (ARP) (ENG) Melanie Gomez (PSA) Marshall Burns (PSA)(ENG) Anthony Navarrette (CVI) (Eng) Mary Bustos (ARP) Dr. Anthony Zoccolillo (CVI) (PSA) Absent Committee Members: Sabrina Ramirez (CVI) Joe Angel DeLaGarza (ARP) Staff Members Present: Sylvia Wilson (Human Relations) Marisa Alaniz (Engineering) Gene Delauro (Development Svc) Lisa Oliver (Parks/Rec) Luis Rocha (Parking Control) Staff Members Absent: Lisa Aguilar (Legal) Ginger Davis (Human Relations) 5. Requests and Approvals for Excused Absences – Mary Bustos was unable to attend the August meeting for medical reasons and asked to be excused. The request was approved. Motion – Marshall Burns Second – Anthony Navarette Motion Passed 6. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes of 8.01.18 Motion – Dr. Anthony Zoccolillo Second – Melanie Gomez Motion Passed 7. Public Comments Cassandra Shriver with the Coastal Bend Walk N Roll reported on the Walk N Roll event scheduled for September 29, 2018 at Water’s Edge Park, beginning at 8:00 AM. Ryan Ford, owner of Rockport Kayak Guide Services, and Doug Gresenz spoke to the Committee regarding a adaptative paddling workshop in Rockport September 25th-28th and their interest in working with the Committee in the future. MOTION MOTION Page 2 of 11 8. Presentations (Limited to 10 Minutes) A. Sidewalk Obstructions – David Prado, Code Enforcement Assistant Director – Tabled until next month. B. Voting Opportunities for Persons with all Abilities – Kathryn Oler, League of Women Voters – Ms. Oler and Ruth Faulk spoke about voting opportunities for persons with disabilities and the importance of registering to vote, being informed about the candidates and issues, and then voting. 9. Staff Reports/Comments A. Human Relations Division – Performance Report – Sylvia Wilson reported on the statistics from the August 2018 Performance Report and answered questions from the members. B. Development Services Department – Gene Delauro reported on the permit numbers for the month of August in new construction and remodeling. C. Engineering Services –- Marisa Alaniz reported on the status of ADA improvements and the Proposed 2018 Bond Projects. Sylvia Wilson stated that everyone should have received the Bond 2018 booklet and encouraged them to become familiar with the booklet. D. Parks and Recreation Department – Lisa Oliver reported that ADA mats have been ordered for Packery Channel and that the shade structure for Salinas Park had arrived and will be installed next week. E. CCPD Parking Control Department – ADA Citation Trend Update Luis Rocha provided the ADA Citation Count Report for August 2018 and answered questions from the members. (A copy of the report is attached to Minutes.) 10. Subcommittee Reports A. Engineering Subcommittee – No update. Mr. Navarrette was added to the Sub- committee. B. Public Service Announcement Subcommittee –Marshall Burns stated he has planned to set up a meeting sometime in September. C. Accessible Recreational Parks Subcommittee – Mr. Balli stated that Phase 2 and 3 at Salinas Park should be commencing next week. D. Community Volunteer Involvement Subcommittee – Dr. Zoccolillo commented on the Health Fair on 9.8.18 sponsored by the NAACP at Del Mar West, the CAST for Kids event on 9.22.18, and the Coastal Bend Walk N Roll on 9.29.18. 11. Chairperson’s Report A. Round table information - Mr. Navarrette commented on the status of the resolution pertaining to a waiver of ramp fees. Sylvia Wilson said she would send the draft of the resolution to Mr. Delauro for his review and comments. Regarding the unexcused absences of Joe Angel DeLaGarza and Sabrina Ramirez, Mrs. Wilson stated that their failure to attend three consecutive meetings is reason for their removal from the Committee. Mrs. Wilson said she would contact the City Secretary asking that the three vacancies be considered on the Agenda for the City Council. Page 3 of 11 12.
