Call to order @ 3:21 PM 2. Moment of Reflection 3. Richard Balli led the Pledge of Allegiance 4. Roll Call Committee Members Present: Richard Balli (ARP) (ENG) Melanie Gomez (PSA) Marshall Burns (PSA)(ENG) Sabrina Ramirez (CVI) Mary Bustos (ARP) Absent Committee Members: Anthony Navarrette (CVI) Dr. Anthony Zoccolillo (CVI) (PSA) Staff Members Present: Sylvia Wilson (Human Relations) Ginger Davis (Human Relations) Marisa Alaniz (Engineering) Gene Delauro (Development Svc) Luis Rocha (Parking Control) Staff Members Absent: Lisa Aguilar (Legal) Lisa Oliver (Parks/Rec) 5. Requests and Approvals for Excused Absences – Dr. Anthony Zoccolillo and Anthony Navarrette were unable to attend the February meeting due to work conflicts and asked to be excused. The requests were approved. Motion – Marshall Burns Second – Melanie Gomez Motion Passed 6. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes of 1.09.18 Motion – Mary Bustos Second – Marshall Burns Motion Passed 7. Public Comments James Chadden invited the members to a free VA and Dignity Memorial Burial Benefits Seminar to be held at the Golden Coral on Thursday, February 7th and handed out a related flyer. (Copy of the handout is attached to the Minutes.). Mark & Stacy DeLaVara of 14901 Windward Drive, Corpus Christi expressed concern over accessibility issues at a new IGA grocery store being built near the intersection of Whitecap and Park Rd 22. Mr. Balli stated the Committee would follow up on the complaint. MOTION MOTION Page 2 of 13 8. Presentations (Limited to 10 Minutes) A. 4th Annual Life After Graduation: Who’s Got Your Back? – Jennifer Ledford Ms. Ledford discussed the event planned for students with disabilities and their parents scheduled for March and April. Sylvia Wilson stated that the Human Relations Office would be participating on April 1st and April 2nd to provide information to the students pertaining to their rights in equal employment and fair housing. A flyer related to the event was handed out and Ms. Ledford answered questions from the committee members. (A copy of the handout is attached to the Minutes.) 9. Staff Reports/Comments A. Human Relations Division – Sylvia Wilson read the annual report that was submitted for the Committee for Persons With Disabilities and answered questions from the members. The Performance Report for January 2019 was also discussed. (Copies of the reports are attached to the Minutes.) B. Development Services Department – Gene Delauro reported on the January construction permits totaling $47.8 million. C. Engineering Services –- Marisa Alaniz reported that she had no new report and answered questions from the members. D. Parks and Recreation Department – No update E. CCPD Parking Control Department – ADA Citation Trend Update Luis Rocha provided the ADA Citation Count Report for January 2019 and answered questions from the members. (A copy of the report is attached to Minutes.) 10. Subcommittee Reports A. Engineering Subcommittee – Mr. Balli stated he had no update but hopes to have a meeting scheduled soon. B. Public Service Announcement Subcommittee – Marshall Burns discussed the possibility of airing the accessible parking PSA and the content for future PSAs. Mr. Burns stated he would no longer be able to chair the subcommittee and that Mr. Balli would assist until a new chair could be appointed. C. Accessible Recreational Parks Subcommittee – Mr. Balli stated that Phase 2 and 3 had been completed and the removal of the subcommittee was discussed. A motion was passed to keep the Accessible Recreational Parks Subcommittee. Motion – Melanie Gomez Second – Marshall Burns Motion Passed D. Community Volunteer Involvement Subcommittee – No report 11. Chairperson’s Report A. Resolution Pertaining to Waiver of Ramp Permit Fees – The Committee passed a motion to send the Resolution to the City Council and Mayor for their consideration. M Motion – Mary Bustos Second – Sabrina Ramirez Motion Passed B. Recommendation to Mayor & City Council to fill two current vacancies. Nominations were made from the seven applications received from the City Secretary’s Office. Votes were taken, and it was decided that the Committee MOTION MOTION Page 3 of 13 would recommend James Chadden and Vanessa P. Nisbet to fill the two vacancies. C. Presentation to Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend – Mr. Balli presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Jennifer Ledford, Betsy Dean and Hope Frances Rangel of Workforce Solutions for their participation in the Committee for Persons with Disabilities Toys for Tots 2018 Campaign. D. Round table discussion - None 12. Identify Items to be placed on next Agenda • Update on scooter issues • Discussion on possible PSA promoting Salinas Park 13.
