Regular Meeting
Thursday, February 18, 2010 — 5:30 P.M. CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE

MEETING MINUTES
Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 5:48pm
II. Roll Call of Members: Absent members were Father Martinez, Jim Boller, Belinda Barrera and
Belissa Perea
III. Adoption of Minutes: Meeting Minutes for meeting held January 21, 2010 were approved as
written.
IV. Action on Absent Members: Absent members, Father Peter Martinez, Jim Boiler and Belissa
Perez were counted as excused due to work/school requirements. Belinda Barrera was counted
as unexcused due to no contact with CYD Program Manager.
V. Public Comment: No public made comment
VI. Business for Discussion and Possible Action:
A. Discussion of CYD events for the year with the providers-Celina Pulcher discussed with
the group the date of the Summerpalooza. It was discussed that the date coincided with
other events in the city and if there was a possibility to move the event to a different date. It
was decided that it would be looked into and new information would be sent out to all
members.
B. Provider Reports for the second quarter activities
a. Boys and Girls Club, Anne Baker was unavailable due to other engagements but had
contact with Mrs. Pulcher
b. Communities In Schools, Roy Buckner was available to discuss the program.They have
been conducting group meetings each week on each campus. They have been conducting
Family Night Out as well with over 150 families coming out to the events.They are gearing
up and looking at funding for summer programs.
c. CC Parks& Recreation, Tessy Gonzales discussed they were working on getting their
summer program together and would be hiring staff very soon.
d. CC All Star Gym, Carol Creely absent
e. CC Housing A Jthority, Rachel Benavides said they had 77 youth enrolled in the program.
Each week they have a new theme and get the youth engaged in the theme. They have had
a field trip to the Lexington as an incentive to working with the program. They have also
been teaching the youth Heathly Living and helping them make the right choices.
f. SERCO of Texas, Nancy Bonilla stated they are working with five schools and
clementaries.They have met their target goal and would like to develop a program with the

Student Learning& Guidance Center. The students have been working on community
service projects and on March 27`"they will be conducting the Youth Leadership
Conference. The students are also participating in Career Exploration and visiting various
colleges throughout the area.
g. YMCA, Robbie Garcia has been working with the YAC and the YMCA Youth and
Government. Competitions for Y&G were held last month and the YAC youth are
niparticipating in a Ropes Course.
h. Youth Odyssey, Becky Koeller discussed they have reached 88%of their goal for the
year and thinks tho in a good position to exceed their goal. They have been running 12
programs between a r• -ec certers and the schools. They have enlisted the assistance of
youth mentors irt the Aro dim add it hes been a big help with the program while getting the
youth involved.Summef it poised to 6e really busy and they look forward to a great year. •
i. YWCA, DeeDee Lopez telked about-holding swims at the YWCA along with basketball
camp,leadersh vamp and taekwondo.The program is being well received in the schools
and they are 1,1 ,'r1g the 'rig active and talking with each other.
VIII. YAC Report:Ang:- :O`tanno reported they have been going through a transition period but
they are working through it ; are ending the Youth Summit meetings and gathering their ideas.
They also recently particip. in a be h clean-up.
