HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Community Youth Development (78415) Program Steering Committee - 12/06/2018 - Special78415 COMMUNITY YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATIVE COMMITTEE Special Meeting Thursdays, December 6, 2018 – 6:00 p.m. Boys and Girls Club of the Coastal Bend 3902 Greenwood, Corpus Christi, TX 78416 MEETING MINUTES I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:10pm II. Roll Call of Members: Present Members included: Lisa Torres, Ricardo Pimentel, and Velma Lozano. Absent Members included: Simone Butler and Carlos Barrera III. Adoption of Minutes: Special Meeting November 15, 2018. Ricardo Pimentel motion to adopt the minutes as written, Velma Lozano seconded, motion passed. IV. Action on Absent Members: Discussion was made in regard to when new committee members will be chosen and sworn into office. V. Public Comment: No public comments. VI. Business for Discussion and Possible Action: A. Program Manager, Sandra Alvarez, discussed the RFP process with committee and handed out the advertisement that was used to promote the grant to vendors using the city supplier portal. B. Ms. Alvarez presented the committee with FY17-FY18 service report and FY19 current service report to compare number of youth served during 1st quarter. Committee members Lisa Torres and Velma Lozano both mentioned that September’s number of youth served was low for FY19 as compared to previous year. C. Discussion of 78415 Collaborative Committee by-laws was tabled for next meeting when all members are present. D. Kim Barrientos, Boys and Girls Club CEO, gave presentation to the committee about the Boys and Girls Club CYD programs and events. Committee members asked about Teen Summit what activities youth participated in. E. Ms. Alvarez informed committee members of upcoming dates for Communities and Schools Christmas Around the World and YWCA Leadership Camp. YWCA CYD Coordinator Angie Cuevas gave information about Leadership Camp. F. YWCA will host next 78415 Collaborative Committee regular meeting Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 6pm. VII. YAC Report: Two YAC members gave presentation about the YAC committee and how being part of the YAC has impacted them. YAC teens discussed their experience attending the Teen Summit and how they were able to speak with teen from around the state. Program Manager gave information about October YAC meeting and Boys and Girls Club’s Teen Night. Ricardo Pimentel asked YAC youth what they have taken away from the program, youth are more outgoing and confident as well as volunteer as a result. VIII. Fiscal Agent’s Report: Ms. Alvarez provided the members with a report on FY19 September and October numbers. The CYD program has served 354 unduplicated youth of the 930 Annual Goal. The CYD program has expended $48,988.60 of FY19 budget. IX. Identify items to be place on next month’s agenda: A. 78415 Collaborative Committee By-laws B. Possible dates of visits to subcontractor’s locations not yet visited during December and January. C. CSNA report for FY19 D. CYD Leadership Banquet X.
