CALL TO ORDER: Chair Martin called the October 25, 2001 Regular Meeting of the Community Youth Development Steering Committee to order at 5:45 p.m. II. ROLL CALL: The Recording Secretary called roll and announced that a quorum was present. III. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC: Bill Hoelscher from Communities in Schools (C.I.S.) introduced other C.I.S. employees who were present with the Youth Action Committees from Baker Middle School and South Park Middle School. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2001: Mr. Leonard moved to approve as written the minutes from the Regular Meeting of September 20, 2001. Ms. Cummins-Colburn seconded the motion. The motion carried. V. ACTION ON CURRENT MEMBERS: None VI. REPORT FROM CYD YOUTH ACTION COMMITTEE: Verla Varino arrived at 5:48 p.m. Youth Action Committee from Baker Middle School and South Park Middle School reported to the Steering Committee on their activities and goals. VIII. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Mr. Semtner reported on the 1St Annual Prevention and Early Intervention Conference presented by DPRS that he and Ms. George attended. Ms. George stated that Chair Martin and Ms. Cummins-Colburn will report on the results of the adult survey from the May Community Meeting at the November Regular Meeting. Ms. George stated that she will present the end of year report for FY2001 at the November Regular Meeting. IX. CURRENT CONCERNS: None VII. TRAINING: COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND HOSTING A COMMUNITY MEETING — MARLA MILLER TEXAS NETWORK OF YOUTH SERVICES Ms. Miller led the Steering Committee through a training session on Community Needs Assessment and Development Community Meetings. The Steering Committee instructed Ms. George to approach George Hodge of Weed & Seed about the possibility of holding a combined Community Meeting in March, 2002. X. ADJOURNMENT: As there was no further business to discuss, Mr. Alvarez moved to adjourn the October 25, 2001 Special Meeting of the Community Youth Development Steering Committee. Ms. Cummins-Colburn seconded the motion. The motion carried. Chair Martin adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m. jiti*LZ. Christopher B.
