CALL TO ORDER: Verla Varino called the February 27, 2003 Special Called Meeting of the Community Youth Development Steering Committee to order at 5:03 p.m. II. ROLL CALL: Chris Semtner called roll and announced that a quorum was present. III. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC: None IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE REGULAR CALLED MEETING ON JANUARY 16, 2003: Dick Leonard moved to accept as written the minutes of the January 16, 2003 meeting. Bobbe Cummins-Colburn seconded the motion. The motion carried. V. ACTION ON CURRENT MEMBERS: None VI. TRAINING: YOUTH/ADULT PARTNERSHIP: Marla Miller with Texas Network of Youth Services, conducted the Youth/Adult Parternship Training. Members of the Youth Advisory Committee also attended the training. Those members consisted of Brandi Childs, Katie Childs, Kristian Hoodye, David Lopez, and Richard Martinez. The youth interacted with the Steering Committee members and were encouraged to participate in the training. VII. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Ms. Corona reported to the Steering Committee that she, along with Ms. Varino, and Bill Hoelscher attended the Statewide Conference in Austin last week. She informed them that there were several issues discussed at the conference, and that Project Coordinators, YAC Coordinators, and Steering Committee members were able to network and learn how other CYD sites conduct their program. Ms. Corona stated that the Youth Leadership component was discussed in great detail at the conference, and that PRS emphasized the importance of having youth on Steering Committees. Ms. Corona informed the Steering Committee that a separate proposal was being requested for the Youth Leadership component of the 78415 CYD Request for H:/pr-dir/annes/word/cyd/2002/minutes SCANNED Page 1 of 2 Proposal. Ms. Corona also informed the Steering Committee that the State was experiencing some budget cuts, however it was not yet determined if CYD would be effected by these cuts. Mr. Leonard left at 6:55 p.m. Ms. Corona left at 7:00p.m. VIII. Ms. Varino informed the Steering Committee that she would like to share some information that she learned while at the conference, and that it would be on next month's agenda. IX. CURRENT CONCERNS: NONE X. ADJOURNMENT: Since there was no further business, Andrea Walter moved to adjourn the February 27, 2003 Special Called Meeting of the Community Youth Development Steering Committee. Emily Figueroa seconded the motion. The motion carried. Chair Verla Varino adjourned the meeting at 7:23 p.m. Christopher B.
