Allen, Roy Hinojosa, Elmo Jackson, Brad Lomax, Roy Mayo, Shirley Pagan, Sam Poteet, Barbara Sheppard, Carole Snyder , Ruth Stark. $1BEE: Rob Earley, Jo Kenner, Kim Lesley, Nick Reyna, Judy Ramos, Pat Rousseau, Ellen Walker. C]IFST: Bill Hennings, Bill Pettus, Eleanor Mortensen. ABSENT: Ed Garza, Cathy Harrison, Al Jones, Ricardo Sanchez, Council Member Ed Martin(City Council/Bureau Liaison). Chairman Seal called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m., and welcomed new board nember Brad Lomax. APPROVAL CF MINUTES: The minutes of the June 28th, 1989 board meeting were unani- nously approved on a motion made, and seconded. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Chairman Seal asked that a motion be made to approve the proposed by-laws revision as mailed, relating to the tenure of a director ap- pointed to represent an industry when director is no longer employed in said industry. All unaninously approved, on a motion rade, and seconded. Chairman Seal asked that a notion be made to approve the proposed by-laws re- vision as mailed, relating to the definition of the geographic areas represented on the Area Council . All unanimously approved, on a notion made, and seconded. Chairman Seal asked that a notion be made for a resolution for support of the Regional Transit Authority's proposed high speed meter transportation. After a brief discussion, all approved on a motion made, and seconded. At this point Chairman Seal updated directors on a meeting held M1bnday, July 24th, with City, County and State officials for the purpose of outlining a permanent solution for beach maintenance improvements. (LENGTHY DISCI:551CN ENSUED) CSMv11TTFF REKRTS: Marketing Committee- No report given, as there was not a July meeting, as Marketing Plan for FY '89-'90 has been completed alt. approved. Area Council Chairman Barbara Sheppard updated directors on neetin6&\�`gA7 Bayside, July 19th. Sheppard reported that all committee members r questa reappointment for FY '89-'90. Von Dohlen is replacing Carsten Meyer who represented Ingleside. Sheppard requested that Area Council members be invited to bureau's annual meeting. TREASURER'S REPORT: Secretary/Treasurer Ruth Stark gave financial report for month of June, reviewing breakdown of expenditures for each department. Stark also noted increase in revenue due to sale of bureau merchandise. PRESIDENT'S REPORT: President Earley presented the bureau's key operating target report, noting that statistics for June were down, due to storms throughout Texas, and also due to the seaweed problem on area beaches. Earley also reported on the Jazz Fam Trip held earlier this month, Pow \Ww trade show held in Las Vegas, and other activities involving bureau staff during the month of June and to date. Earley circulated copies of Texas Monthly Magazine, in which the bureau and area hotels/condominiuns have a two page co-op advertisement . Earley also circulated a copy of the Rockport/Fulton Birding Guide, noting that the bureau will be looking into putting together a guide of this type for the Corpus Christi Bay area. Earley also reported that the Airport Advisory Committee had requested a meeting with bureau committee appointed to work on air/ground packages. At this time Chairman Seal asked the following directors and staff if they would serve on this committee: Roy Hinojosa, Roy Mayo, Brad Lomax, Rob Earley, Nick Reyna. All agreed to serve. At this time a discussion opened concerning B-6 zoning in a 3 block area where Aquarium Village is to be located, on Corpus Christi Beach. Directors expressed concern over the appearance of the area surrounding the aquarium site. Directors were asked to appear at the zoning commission to express their personal views on the subject .
