The public hearing was closed at 6:03 p.m. The regular meeting was called to order by Susie Luna Saldana at 6:03 p.m. Mrs.Gleimer Loeb asked to delete "and requested equipment" from paragraph 6, second sentence of the minutes. New sentence should read, "Mr. Salazar introduced a new proposed program". A motion was made by Mrs. Garcia and second by Mr.Johnson to approve the minutes as corrected. Motion carried,6/0. Cmdr. Schauer and Deanna McQueen gave a graffiti update.John Marez will be having a Graffiti summit on Thursday,January 28th at 6 p.m at the Del Mar Business Center corner of Kostoryz and Staples. They continue to work with the Nueces County Sheriffs Department inmate population to help wipe out the graffiti. The graffiti team has cleaned 158,338 square feet in 2009. Mr. Sahadi congratulated Cmdr. Schauer and Deanna McQueen on getting the cameras running. Cindy O'Brien reviewed the results of the Juvenile Assessment Center committee report. Judge Flores explained to the board that the Juvenile Assessment Center will be moving to the Wilson Building next to Municipal Juvenile Court. Mrs. Garcia asked Judge Flores why the Municipal Juvenile Court was relocated to begin with. Cindy O'Brien said that it was because the environmental court and the juvenile court were combined at the Wilson Building as a cost saving measure. A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and second by Mr. Molina to approve the Juvenile Assessment Center report. Motion carried, 6/0. Cindy O'Brien distributed the proposed changes to the Juvenile Assessment Center budget for FY 2010. The move will take place within current budget. Mrs. O'Brien explained that an additional $10,600 is needed for fiscal year 2011. Margie Rose stated that the rent is estimated at about between $50,000 - 70,000 and they will work to negotiate it down. Mr. Johnson asked if the current lease was month to month, they advised that it was, and they would like it to coincide with the current municipal juvenile court lease. Mr. Molina asked if the urinalysis issue had been resolved and Rene Mendiola explained that it had been taken care of. Estela Garcia asked if they expected Crime Control to pick up the fiscal year 2011 extra expense. Margie Rose said they wanted approval to do fiscal year 2010 and then present fiscal year 2011 next month. Susie Luna Saldana said she appreciates everybody working together. A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and second by Mrs. Garcia to accept the proposed changes to the Juvenile Assessment Center budget for remainder of FY 2009-10, which incorporates reallocation of existing budget to fund the moving costs and additional rent expense relating to consolidation of the Juvenile Assessment Center and the Municipal Juvenile Court at the Wilson Plaza building. Motion carried,6/0. Daniel Vargas reviewed the Juvenile Assessment Center report, Gail Gleimer Loeb asked if more kids were picked up. Mr. Vargas explained that the number of curfew violators brought to JAC had increased. Constance Sanchez reviewed financials and explained that revenues are down 16.73% for the fiscal year. Retail sales declined 5%. Ms. Sanchez also explained that expenditures are at 34.61% and revenue at 32%. SCANNED Pat Eldridge stated that the resolution will be brought to next month's Crime Control meeting. Pat Eldridge also advised that Trisha Dana,Police legal advisor,is reviewing the process. Jesse Molina asked for the breakdown on drugs picked up by crime stoppers. Items to be placed on next month's agenda • Adoption of the resolution • Update from the Chief • Update on the cameras • FY 10 Revenue and expenditure,YE est. • FY 11 Revenue and expenditure,proposal Chief Riggs gave an overview of the reorganization of the Corpus Christi Police Department. Chief Riggs spoke of the compstat process. Susie Luna Saldana asked if budget cuts had affected the police department. Chief Riggs has managed to make cuts,but is concerned with long term effects. Chief Riggs also mentioned that they are going to move workdays to reduce overtime during Spring Break. The meeting was adjourned at 7:01 p.m.
