HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 03/17/2010 MINUTES CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT RECEIVED WEDNESDAY,MARCH 17,2010 CITY HALL,6TH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM A pR 3 0 2010 Members Present Gail Gleimer Loeb Reagan Sahadi CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE Randy Maldonado Susie Luna Saldana Jesse Molina David Sauceda The meeting was called to order by Susie Luna Saldana at 2:34 p.m. Mrs. Saldana wanted to clarify the minutes from the February 17, 2010 meeting that she did not want to get rid of the entire GWO program, only the coordinator position. A motion was made by Mrs. Gleimer Loeb and second by Mr.Sauceda to approve the minutes as corrected. Motion carried,6/0. Chief Riggs was not available for the meeting. Ms. Eldridge gave a brief overview of how CompStat is coming along. Eddie Houlihan stated that revenues collected are under by 15.74%, expenditures are at 49.83% with ytd at 58.33%. Mr. Sauceda asked if the no smoking ordinance in bars has affected the sales tax. Mr. Houlihan explained that it could not be determined since it is part of the general economy. Daniel Vargas gave a report on the Juvenile Assessment Center. Mr. Vargas passed out the annual report and explained that the number of violators has increased. The board will review the report and bring back any questions they may have next month. Mr. Vargas explained that he is working with the Judge on a new presentation. Commander Schauer stated that the two graffiti trucks are making a big difference. Additionally, a 15 year old Moody student has been arrested for Graffiti. John Sendejar reviewed the status of cameras. He explained that a camera will be installed at the beach for Spring Break and another at Kids place and at Norton and Kostoryz. Ten more are to be put up during the year and can be relocated if needed. All costs associated are paid by the City MIS Department. Eddie Houlihan reviewed the projected FY2010 and proposed FY2011 budget. A public hearing will be held next month on April 21 on the proposed FY 2011 budget. Mrs. Luna Saldana wants an update on school crossing guards. Pat Eldridge reviewed the 10 year plan. Ms. Eldridge explained that further discussion will begin in October 2010 regarding program reductions.This will allow more data on sales tax to accumulate. Mrs. Luna Saldana wants to know jurisdictions of CCISD and CCPD for enforcement, i.e., How does it work? What happens when crime occurs on campus? Commander Schauer stated he will ask Chief Cavazos to attend the next meeting. Mr. Molina asked if there is more we can do about drive by shootings. Commander Schauer will give report next month. He also would like a speaker to discuss goodwill partnership with the Juvenile Assessment Center. A motion was made by Mr. Sauceda and second by Mrs. Gleimer Loeb to adjourn the meeting at 3:30 p.m. Motion carried,6/0. SCANNED
