HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 08/18/2010 MINUTES RECEIVED CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WEDNESDAY,AUGUST 18,2010 CITY HALL,6iH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM OCT 1 4 2010 Members Present CRYSECRElggy-s Q priscE Cecil Johnson Reagan Sahadi Randy Maldonado David Sauceda Jesse Molina Mike Staff Susie Luna Saldana The meeting was called to order by Susie Luna Saldana at 2:37 p.m. A motion was made by Mr.Johnson and second by Mr. Sauceda to approve the minutes of July 21, 2010 as printed. Motion carried, 6/0. Lisa Aguilar explained that the resolution approving the extension of the crime control sales tax to include telecommunications will generate approximately $250,000.00 which will be placed in the Crime Control District fund balance. A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and second by Mr. Sauceda to expand the current sales tax base to include telecommunications. Motion carried, 6/0. Chief Riggs explained that staffing will be a concern in the department since the next academy has been moved to August 2011 due to budget reductions. He explained that an efficiency team was put together to review current manpower deployment for possible moves to the field in the future. A new Police Foundation 501 (c)(3) has been established,Citizens in Support of the Corpus Christi Police Department, with Ed Hicks as president. The foundation's main purpose is to support the Police Department with the purchase of items not routinely found in the General Fund budget. Constance Sanchez explained the financials to the board and said that the revenues for the end of the fiscal year are $4,452,842.27 which is $812,318.76 or -10.62% down from the previous fiscal year. Expenditures are 94.66%. Mathew Delgado, case manager and prevention specialist was introduced. Daniel Vargas explained that the new pilot program would be for teen parents at the high schools. Mr. Vargas passed out a chart showing the number of curfew violations. Commander Schauer explained that graffiti work orders are getting done on time. He also explained that the cameras are almost 100%implemented. No items were mentioned to be put on next month's agenda. No public comment. A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and second by Mr. Sauceda to adjourn the meeting at 3:11 p.m. Motion carried, 6/0. SCANNED
