HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 01/19/2011 MINUTES CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WEDNESDAY,JANUARY 19,2011 RECEIVED CITY HALL,6T11 FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM Members Present MAR 0 4 2011 Mike Hummel1 Susie Luna Saldana Cecil Johnson David Sauceda CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE Randy Maldonado Mike Staff Jesse Molina The meeting was called to order at 2:36 p.m. A motion was made by Mr. Staff and second by Mr. Sauceda to approve the minutes of November 17, 2010 as printed. Motion carried,7/0. Chief Riggs reported that a new program called Gang injunction would be finalized by the District Attorney's Office as well as Carlos Valdez and his staff. LULAC Council #1 has offered their support as well for the program. Chief Riggs also talked about a new synthetic drug called K2 which the narcotics division is monitoring. The City Council will be considering a resolution on Feb 8 to regulate illegal smoking products and related paraphernalia in the City. Chief Riggs mentioned to the board that several promotions took place and there are now 2 new assistant chiefs along with 4 new commanders. Chief Riggs explained that Compstat will be overseen by the fusion center. He also explained that the actual sworn strength is 434 after retirements and the next recruitment class will not begin until August of 2011. Chief Riggs invited the board to all Compstat meetings that are held at the main police station on the 2nd and 41s Wednesday's of the month at 3 pm. Constance Sanchez reviewed the financials to the board and reported that the annual revenues were at 38.08% of our budget year, the year to date actuals are $1,932,266.04. The analysis of revenues for 5 months ending on December 31, 2010 were 3.14% above budget. The revenues are 10.33% above actual from last year. The expenditures are at $2,002,773.89,38.28%of budget which is right on target. Monica Bryan from the Juvenile Assessment Center explained that she is working with Municipal Court on CDBG Grant-curriculum for elementary. Ms. Bryan gave an overview of the number of court referred youths as well as case management. Detective Ramiro Torres gave a brief recap of the graffiti team accomplishments for 2010 There were 53 total cases in 2010 with 31 arrests, 15 adults and 16 juveniles. Detective Tones explained that graffiti has now been assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. There was no unfinished business Pat Eldridge passed out the budget calendar and explained that the FY 2011-2012 budget will be discussed at the next meeting.
