The meeting was called to order by Susie Luna Saldana at 2:55 p.m. A motion was made by
Mrs. Garcia and second by Mr. Johnson to approve the minutes of May 18, 2011. Motion
carried, 6/0.
Assistant Chief Mylett explained that the operations bureau consists of the Criminal
Investigation Division, Uniform, Narcotics/Vice and the Organized Crime Unit. Chief Mylett
reviewed the CCPD approach to handling gangs has been stepped up. He advised that there are
currently 2200 known gang members and 49 gang members were picked up during the annual
roundup.
Constance Sanchez gave the Finance Directors report and explained that the year to date actual
sales tax revenue is $4,193,373.94 or 12.16% over budget. Crime Control members wanted to
know what the current fund balance is. Staff explained that the current fund balance is
approximately $2.1 million.
The Juvenile Assessment Center advised that all operations were running smoothly.
Detective Ramiro Torres advised that last month (May 2011) 283 properties were cleaned of
graffiti.
The budget as approved by the Crime Control District is to be presented to City Council on June
21 for their approval or rejection.
Dr. Rhoades gave a presentation on the data project Nueces County Children and Families
Losing Ground. This is the project that requested funds from the Crime Control District in May,
2011.
