HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 02/22/2012MINUTES CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2012 CITY HALL, 6 TH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM Members Present Bob Corrigan Cecil Johnson Jermv Dorsev Randv Maldonado Estela Garcia Susie Luna Saldana Randv Hicks Michael Staff The meeting was called to order at 2:37 p.m. by Susie Luna Saldana. A motion Avas made by Mrs. Garcia and second by Mr. Hicks to approve the minutes of January 18, 2012 as printed. Motion carried, 8/0. Interim Chief Badaracco explained the following: • New chief to begin duties on March 12. hnterim Chiefs last day will be March 16. He stated that graffiti is a priority at the Police Department. He also explained that they have combined resources with CID and the Narcotics division. During the Gang round up 19 were arrested. Constance Sanchez gave the financial report: • Revenue for 6 months ending 1/31/12 is $2,964,704.31, 12.04% above budget. • Expenditures for 6 months ending 1/31/12 - $2,343,49295, or 46.05% expended: we are 50% into the fiscal year. Stacie Talbert presented the board with a report on curfew violation occurrences and intakes. A total of 16 curfew violations were recorded for the month of January- with a slight decrease in nighttime violations. Mike Staff suggested the Board pass a resolution in support of the possible changes to the assignment of graffiti cases to specific District Judges. The Board asked for City staff to bring back a sample resolution for discussion at the next meeting. Tracey Cantu with Code Enforcement gave a presentation to the board Eddie Houlihan reviewed the sales tax revenue for FYI 3. Raymond Rivas reviewed the year end expenditure estimates for FY12 and the proposed FY13 budget. The budget will be approved at the April 18 meeting after the public hearing. Captain Houston gave a taser report to the board and explained that officers used the taser 87 times last year, 7 on animals and 80 on individuals. 74 were successftil, 13 were unsuccessftil due to partial connection. Utilization of the tasers has translated to fewer officer injuries. Prior to tasers, officers used pepper (OC) spray. Items to be placed on next month's agenda • Public hearing and 2012 -2013 budget adoption is set for April 18, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. • Resolution regarding issuing of graffiti cases to judges • Dr. Rhoades and grant matching efforts • Code Enforcement Jorge Hernandez of 4549 Bernandino Street explained that he attended the graffiti conference at Southpark Middle school. He explained that he would like to see officers equipped with night scopes with infrared imaging. He explained that graffiti in the Prescott and Moody High School area is bad. Mr. Hernandez's information was taken and will be given to the detectives. The meeting adjourned at 3:57 p.m.
