CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT

The meeting was called to order at 2:47 pm by Mrs. Saldana. A motion was made by Mr. Staff and
second by Mr. Hicks to approve the minutes as printed. Motion carried, 510.
Report from Chief of Police:
• Staffing issues - Current strength is 436 with 3 pending. Januaiv academy* scheduled with 15
cadets. Chief is working to ensure that what we currently* have is being used efficiently*. Mrs.
Saldana explained that she would like to see overtime versus hiring more officers. Chief stated
he is working on a manpower analysis and will bring to board upon completion. Mr. Staff
suggested we look at using the fund balance to fund more in the academy* for 3 Nears, at the end
of 3 Nears city* picks up .
Constance Sanchez introduced Celia Gauna, City Auditor who will now be the official crime control
Treasurer. Mrs. Guana then advised that she has designated Constance Sanchez to be her representative
as Treasurer. Mrs. Sanchez reviewed the financials. Revenues are 19.44% above budget and
expenditures are below budget.
Diana Naranjo gave monthly* presentation on the JAC. Ms. Naranjo reviewed curfew statistics and
prevention program activities.
No graffiti report.
Commander Houston and Senior Officer Travis Pace reported on the $100,000 purchase of equipment by
Crime Control. All the equipment has been purchased and delivered.
Ms. Eldridge reported that City Council passed FY 2013 budget on Tuesday* June 19, 2012
The discussion regarding the CCPD Academy* and the Del Mar Police Academy* will be postponed until
next month as Mr. Corrigan was not present for the discussion.
A utility* billing insert is not an effective tool; board will consider other ways to publicize holiday*
initiative.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m
