HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 11/21/2012MINUTES CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2012 CITY HALL, 6 TH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM Members Present Bob Corrigan Cecil Johnson Estela Garcia Susie Luna Saldana Randy Hicks The meeting was called to order by Susie Luna Saldana at 2:31 p.m. A motion was made by Mr. Johnson and second by Mrs. Garcia to approve the minutes as printed. Motion carried, 510. Chief Simpson reported that the UCR crime rate is down 6% from last year at this time. Deputy Director of Finance Caron Vela gave the finance directors report and stated the following: • Analysis of revenues for 3 months ended October 31, 2012 - $1,659,801.14, up 6.72 %. • Summary of Appropriations and Expenditures for 3 months ended October 31, 2012- $1,176,523.39 or 19.72% of budget through the first quarter. Diana Naranjo Avith the Juvenile Assessment Center explained that there were 33 curfew violations and intakes for the month of October. Lt. Alanis gave the graffiti report and explained that there are 439 work orders created since last meeting, 308 are still active. 2 arrests had been made. Pat Eldridge explained that the appropriation of fiords for motorcycles, patrol rifle lights, and rifle cases went before council on November 20, 2012. The final reading will be December 11, 2012. As of today`s meeting no cadet interns have been hired vet. Tracy Cantu Avith code enforcement asked for approval of Rinds for the following: • hardware supplies to include plywood and paint - $4,262 • Gloves $500.00 - $1000.00 • Body Armor - $319.00- $899.00(depending on brand) It was explained to members that this would be a onetime expenditure. Mrs. Cantu explained that the Weed & Seed grant used to provide fiords for these items, but this is no longer available and General fund monies are currently being utilized. Board members would like for Mrs. Cantu to come back with an exact amount for the next meeting. Chief Simpson recommended not buying the body armor as Code Enforcement should not enter dangerous situations, but wait for the Police to arrive to handle. It was moved bv_ Mr. Johnson and second bv_ Mrs. Garcia to table the action item until the next meeting. Motion carried, 510 Items to be placed on next month's agenda: Bids on gloves, details on lumber, SUTA contract Mr. Hicks moved and Mr. Johnson second to cancel the December meeting. Motion carried 510 The meeting adjourned at 3:33 p.m.
