HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 01/15/2014 MINUTES CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15,2014 CITY HALL, 6TH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM Members Present Estela Garcia Scott Leeton Randy Hicks Randy Maldonado Cecil Johnson Michael Staff Raymond Lara The meeting was called to order by Cecil Johnson at 2:32 p.m. A motion was made by Mrs. Garcia and second by Mr. Hicks to approve the minutes of November 20, 2013 as printed. Motion carried 6/0, excluding Mr. Staff. Assistant Chief Markle gave the crime report. Violent crimes are down approximately 7 �/z % compared to the previous year. Constance Sanchez gave the financial report for the 5 month period ending December 31, 2013: • Revenues are up 1.31% compared to budget, 6.74%higher than this time last year. • Expenditures are 31.13%with 42%into this budget year. Diana Naranjo of the Juvenile Assessment Center gave the following update for the month of December: • 10 curfew violations (7 male, 3 female) • 33 urinalysis tests were completed with 9 tests yielding positive results, mostly for marijuana • 1,190 Life Skills Training participants, 2,379 participant hours Sr. Officer Steve Smith introduced Sr. Officer William Hobbs who has taken his place with the Graffiti Task Force and gave the following update: • 22 graffiti related arrests were made in 2013 (13 adults, 9 juveniles) • 267 active work orders in the system • 567 new work orders have been created between November 18, 2013 and January 14, 2014 Joseph Brice spoke regarding the role of the Crime Control and Prevention District Board members. Pat Eldridge talked of the changing of the City's 2015 fiscal year to October 1, 2014. A motion was made by Mr. Hicks and second by Mr. Staff to approve adoption of the amended FY2014 budget to include two additional months to match the City's new fiscal year. Motion carried 7/0. A list of current civilian positions funded by the Crime Control and Prevention District was provided to board members. Pat Eldridge stated that in FY 2015 the Deputy City Marshal positions would be amended to private security services and budgeted under professional services.
