The public hearing on the Crime Control and Prevention District FY2015 budget was called to order by Michael
Staff at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Staff called for public comment. Hearing none,Mrs. Garcia moved and Mr.Hicks second to
close the public hearing. Motion approved 6/0.
The regular scheduled board meeting of the Crime Control and Prevention District was called to order by Michael
Staff at 6:05 pm.
A motion was made by Mr. Hicks and second by Mr. Olivares to approve the minutes of May 21,2014 as printed;
motion carried 6/0.
Captain Bowers gave the following report:
• Violent crime statistics are down 5.29%and non-violent crime are also down 5.4%
There was no City Auditor Report.
Constance Sanchez gave the financial report for May,2014:
• Revenues down 2.30%
• Expenditures are at 64.96%,budget being 71%into the fiscal year.
Stacie Talbert gave an update for the month of April for the Juvenile Assessment Center:
• 22 curfew violations 2 occurring during the day and 20 at night.
• For April there were 24 drug tests issued and 5 tested positive for marijuana.
• For May there were 19 drug tests issued and 5 tested positive for marijuana
Officer Hobbs gave an update on the status of graffiti eradication across the city and arrests of graffiti offenders.
• Currently have 118 work orders active.
• Currently working on putting cameras in hot spot areas in the near future.
• PSA public education commercial is in the final stages of filming by Sr. Ofcr.Pace.
• Ofcr. Ramiro Torres will be taking over the graffiti section on 06/30/14.
A motion was made by Mr. Olivares and second by Ms. Garcia to adopt the proposed FY2015 budget as presented
to the board;motion carried 6/0.
Items for the next meeting agenda:
• History of the Citizen Advisory Councils
• Data Collection report presentation from TX A&M University and the Commission on Children
and Youth
• November 2017 election discussion
There was no public comment.
Next meeting will be held on July 161n,2014.
Meeting adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
