HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 10/15/2014 Minutes Crime Control and Prevention District Wednesday October 15,2014 City Hall,61h Floor Conference Room Members Present Cecil Johnson Randy Maldonado Scott Leeton Michael Staff Raymond Lara Jesse Olivares The meeting was called to order by Michael Staff at 2:36 p.m. A motion was made by Mr.Lara and second by Mr. Olivares to approve the minutes of August 20th,2014 as printed;motion carried 6/0. A motion was made by Mr. Lara and second by Mr.Leeton to approve the minutes of September 10th,2014 as printed;motion carried 6/0. Chief Simpson advised a class of cadets will be graduating March 7th,2015. The City Council approved our total Officer strength to be increased from 449 to 499. Captain Bowers gave the following report: • Violent crime statistics are down 2.12%and non-violent crime is down 3% • It takes 1.7 minutes from the time the caller calls till the time the call gets dispatched. • Our overall response time is 6 minutes compared to a national average of 8 minutes. There was no City Auditor Report at this time. Constance Sanchez gave the financial report for the 14 months ending September 30th,2014: • 86.37%of the total budget was expended. • Annual revenue estimate compared to actual collected is at 97.85%. Becky Perrin gave an update for the month of September for the Juvenile Assessment Center: • 11 curfew violations(9 males,2 females); all but 1 occurred at night. • Drug tests performed in September were 21 males and 13 females for a total of 34; 4 females and 2 males ending up positive for drug use. Officer Torres stated graffiti work orders had decreased 188 for the time period of September 1st through October 14th compared to the 495 work orders they had previously from July 1st through August 14th. Mr. Abel Alonzo was a no show to give a presentation on the I Believe in Me Foundation. Cmdr. Houston reviewed a list of 26 items of one time expenditures explaining each in detail making sure to note the fence proposal will be added to this list on next month's agenda. There was no public comment. A motion was made by Cecil Johnson and second by Scott Leeton to adjourn at 4:38p.m.;motion carried 5/0.
