The meeting was called to order by Ms. Luna Saldana at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Bradley Tindall introduced himself to the board and attendees.
A motion was made by Mr. Leeton and second by Mr. Olivares to approve the minutes of February 18,2015 as
printed;motion carried 9/0.
Chief Simpson gave updates on officers injured in the shooting; Officer Ruebelmann is on light duty and Officer
Jordan is still recooperating.
Capt. Bowers gave the following report:
• Violent crime statistics are up 13.75%and non-violent crime is down 22.62%as compared to last year
at this time. Overall crime is down 18.82%.
• More detailed statistics showing numbers for different areas of town will be given next month.
Capt. Blackmon summarized changes to the building codes by revising a new Property Maintenance Code Manual
that had not been updated since 1973.
Capt. Asbury with the Gang Unit summarized the Gang Unit and their duties.
There was no City Auditor Report.
There was no Financial Report. Constance Sanchez will be presenting February's numbers next month which would
be the last closed month instead of giving numbers that have not been verified.
Superintendent for the Juvenile Assessment Center David Prado gave an update for the month of February 2015.
• 17 curfew violations(11 males, 6 females) 14 occurred during the day and 3 occurred at night.
• The number of drug tests performed in February 2015 is 22 males and 11 females with 8 of those resulting
positive for marijuana and 1 positive for amphetamines.
Senior Officer Torres revised last month's work orders for January as 308 and currently for the month of February
there are 280 with 8 pending authorization.
Pat Eldridge went over the budget estimates for FYI and proposed numbers for FYI for the first of three reviews.
Ms. Luna Saldana wants to work on a campaign to educate the public about Crime Control and the advantages to
keeping it for the next election.
Stacie Talbert and David Prado turned in a Decision package FYI along with a salary edit requesting one more
Case Manager. Ms. Luna Saldana advised she has not been happy with their progress and wants to further discuss
this next month. Ms. Luna Saldana wants the board to look at the proposed budget and discuss.
Items to place on agenda:
Ms. Luna Saldana requested the Board review the propsed budget to discuss in the April meeting.
Introduce Tom Brown to the Board.
Pat will bring the success rate for the Pawn Shop Unit.
