The meeting was called to order by Ms. Luna Saldana at 2:35 p.m.
A motion was made by Mr. Scott Leeton and second by Mr.Randall Hicks to approve the minutes from the
September 16,2015 meeting. The motion carried 510.
Interim Chief Markle gave an update on the one time expenditures.All items have been purchased. The War
Room at the Police Department-51n floor is being converted into a media room and will be ready for a tour
hopefully by next month. Travis Pace displayed the drone purchased from the one time expenditures and
explained how it will be utilized in our department.
Capt. Bowers reviewed the crime report:
• Violent crime statistics show an increase of 5.10%year to date and non-violent crime shows a
decrease of 18.74%year to date.
The murder rate is 22 versus last year's end total of 25.
Constance Sanchez gave the financial report for the 11 months ending August 2015.
• 67.40%of the total budget expended.
• Annual revenue collected is at 87.89% .
David Prado with the Juvenile Assessment Center gave an update for the month of September 2015.
• 22 curfew violations(13 males,9 females) 11 occurred at night and 11 occurred during the day.
• 57 drug tests were performed-37 males and 20 females; 16 returned positive for marijuana and one was
positive for opiates.
Ms. Luna-Saldana requested a long range plan on how they are handling curfew issues.
Senior Officer Alejandro gave the graffiti update of 349 work orders generated for September. They identified
four individuals that have caused about 60%of the work orders.
City Council approved the appropriations to be rolled over to this year for the Police building security project.
They have finished power washing and have painted 20%of the building. We will be going out for bids on the
fence and parking lot project.
Arlene Cordell and Betsy Pimentel discussed their plans for Public Relations and are working on strategies to
better educate the public on what Crime Control stands for.
Pat Eldridge will draft a letter to the City Secretary requesting to be placed on the 2016 ballot.
Two billboards sponsored by CCPOA will be going up on Monday thanking the Crime Control Board.
