The meeting was called to order by Ms. Luna Saldana at 2:32 p.m.
A motion was made by Mr. Hicks and second by Mr. Leeton to approve the minutes from the November 18,
2015 meeting. The motion carried 9/0.
Chief Markle informed the board about a couple of promotions he made and there will be some reorganization in
the near future. Ms.Eldridge has submitted an annual report for 2015 as requested by the City Manager. A copy
of the report was in the board packet.
Capt. Bowers reviewed the crime report:
• Violent crime statistics show an increase of 20.93%year to date and non-violent crime shows a
decrease of 5%year to date.
• The murder totals are at 17 for the end of the year in 2015 compared to 25 for last year.
The murder rate ending December of 2015 will probably be reduced to 16 at the end of January
2016 due to one case probably getting no-billed by the grand jury.
• The murder ratefor January 2016 year to date is 1 compared to 2 for last year.
There was no City Auditor Report.
Constance Sanchez gave the financial report for the 2 months ending November 30,2015.
• 11.75%of the total budget expended.
• Annual revenue collected compared to budget is 93.67%
David Prado with the Juvenile Assessment Center gave an update for the month of December 2015.
• 19 curfew violations(10 males,9 females) 15 occurred at night and 4 occurred during the day.
• 37 drug tests were performed 25 males and 12 females. 9 returned positive for marijuana and all others
had negative results.
Senior Officer Alejandro gave the graffiti update of 388 work orders generated and 2 arrests for December 2015.
The graffiti removal team went to 3,474 locations and removed 93,421 square feet of graffiti in 2015.
Cmdr. Houston went over the list of one-time equipment purchases. Mr. Leeton inquired about the gloves
purchased on previous years and requested if they could look at replacements to add to the one-time purchaes.
There was discussion to possibly hold next month's meeting at the Police Department and take a tour of the
completed war room at the same time.
Items to place on agenda:
Add a possible alternative to the gloves purchased last year for the one-time purchases list.
Vote on the one-time equipment purchases.
The update on the Police Building security project: The painting and extermination is complete. The drawings
for the parking lot renovations and fence are 60%complete and waiting for Engineering to continue to the next
phase.
Public Relations for the November 2016 elections: New flyers were printed and PR events are scheduled for the
near future.
There was no public comment.
