The meeting was called to order by Mr. Leeton at 2:39pm.
A motion was made by Ms.Veith and second by Mr.Hicks to approve the minutes from the February 17,2016
meeting correcting the word in the third paragraph to read legislature instead of legislative. The motion carried
5/0,Ms.Luna Saldana and Ms.Loverde came in after this vote.
Cmdr.Escalante reviewed the crime report:
• Violent crime statistics show a decrease of 10.95%year to date and non-violent crime shows a
decrease of 7.31%year to date compared to last year's year to date
• The murder rate is 2 compared to 5 for last year.
• Pawn Shop recovered $19,719 in Feb. There were 348 calls for service for graffiti in February.
There was no City Auditor Report.
Constance Sanchez gave the financial report for the 4 months ending January 31,2016.
• 30.29%of the total budget expended. The Fund balance end of September 2015 is$5,441,581.00.
• Annual revenue collected compared to previous year actual is at 88.23%.
The City Council voted to place the renewal of the Crime Control District for 10 years on the November ballot.
Becky Perrin,Asst.Director of Parks and Recreation shared a couple of success stories that resulted from the
Crime Control funded programs at the Juvenile Assessment Center. The following are stats for February 2016.
• 245 total intakes and 31 violations.
• 52 drug tests performed.
John Milam,Deputy Director of special programs with the Nueces County Juvenile Department provided
updates on how the changes in the new laws will affect the way they handle juvenile truancy.
Betsy Pimentel discussed the 2016 elections and strategies to continue to promote the District vote.
Judy Loverde is still working on ideas for Police Appreciation Day and requested everyone to forward ideas.
Pat reviewed the year end estimates for FYI 6,proposed FYI budget and noted minor differences for proposed
budget from the original presentation. Strategies were discussed to keep the fund balance from depleting.
Ms.Perrin requested the board convert a budgeted Juvenile Marshal position into a Case Manager position. This
would result in a cost savings of about$17,000 and would like to keep about$6,000 for supplies. The rest of the
monies could be cost savings or they could utilize it elsewhere. A motion was made for this action item to be
tabled till the next meeting by Mr. Leeton and second by Mr.Hicks. The motion carried 7/0.

• Review for an adequate fund balance
• Presentation for calls for service department wide from 2012 till present-request from Mr.Leeton.
• Budget discussion.
• Tabled action item:Request by JAC to modify FY 17 budget.
During public comments,Constance Sanchez announced that this would be Eddie Houlihan's last meeting. He
will be leaving the City of Corpus Christi to be the City Manager in George West,TX.
This meeting was adjourned by Ms. Luna Saldana at 4:10 p.m.
