Call to order
Susie Luna Saldana called the meeting to order at 2:35 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
Scott Leeton motioned to approve minutes from February 15, 2017. Joan Veith seconded the motion. The motion
passed 8/0.
Report for the Chief of Police
Chief Mike Markle said Spring Break was good. The department is getting ready for Fiesta de la Flor. He went to
the Capital last Tuesday to testify for SB2-Restricting Ad Velorum Tax. He urges anyone who has contact with their
House Representative to reach out to them. Preparing for Beach to Bay and Buc Days. Elections are the same day as
the Buc Parade. Gearing up for another Academy, so far we have about 8 or 9 females.
Crime Report
Captain Jason Brady gave the Crime Report and stated the murder rate is 5 YTD. They are 80% solved on those.
City Auditor Report
There was no City Auditor report.
Crime Prevention Advisory Report
Arlene Cordell presented the Crime Prevention Advisory Report. They have held 4 new Neighbors on Watch meetings
in the last month. They have continued safety presentations for seniors and children visiting schools daily. They had
five community meetings and attended five community events including CCISD and Texas A&M Healthy Families.
A Public Service Announcement on DWI's was posted on Facebook. Working on Operation Safe Return, an annual
back to school safety event to be held on August 12th. They are currently updating their website.
Pawn Shop Report
There was no Pawn Shop Report.
Graffiti Eradication
S/O Mike Rogers stated for February 2017, there were 300 work orders compared to 348 in February of last year.
They had one arrest of a juvenile who was writing her name on a bathroom wall. He is considering her criminal
history and the damage done,thinking of reducing her charge to Class B Criminal Mischief.
Financial report
Alma Casas, Assistant Director of Finance presented the financial statements for the month ending January 2017.
Revenues are down$163,466.88 from budgeted figure. Expenditures on target.
Juvenile Assessment Report
David Prado, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation
• Case Management for month of February 2017 is 60
• Court Ordered Services for the month of February 2017 is 10
• Active Case Load total is 136
Working on Summer schedule with local agencies to set up case management services and prevention services
including the City and Non Profit Agencies. They will be working with the Coastal Bend Foundation and the Police
Department's Back to School Bash. They can be found on Facebook on Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation. They
post weekly.
Update on Police Headquarters Parking Lot Project
Pat gave an update on the Police Headquarters Parking Lot Project. The fence is about 75%complete. The electronic
gates that will be put up on Chaparral and Water Street, and the automated pedestrian gates are still needing to be
added. In order to get in to the parking lot whether by vehicle or walking,you must have an authorization ID. They
may be finished by May V. Chief would like to work with the business owner and get the giant wall behind the PD
painted.

Proposed Budget for FY 2017-2018
Pat presented the Proposed 2017-2018 Budget. The deficit will continue in to next year. The Proposed 17-18 Budget
shows a deficit of$2.6 million. The majority of that is because the officers will get a 2%pay raise in October. This
does not include new insurance rates. The amount of sales tax to be projected is a 1%decrease. They have asked the
Budget office to do a 5 year projection. This will be discussed over next month's meeting with adoption at the May
meeting.
Identify Items to be Placed on Next Agenda
Pat mentioned a Budget Review and a five year projection will be discussed. An update on the Police Headquarters
Parking Lot will be given.

Susie Luna Saldana moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 3:31
p.m.
