Fred Edler seconded the motion. The motion passed 7/0. Report for the Chief of Police Assistant Chief Mark Gutierrez reported the recruiting process for the next academy in July has closed with over 800 applicants.They are looking to hire between 30-35 applicants. The Department is currently under 11 officers. Crime Report Captain Asbury presented the monthly Crime Report. Robberies are up 14%, aggravated assaults are up, Burglaries of businesses are up. Criminal Investigations Division is focusing on guns left in the vehicles, so they won't be used in future crimes. City Auditor Report No City Auditor Report Finance Director Report Alma Casas presented the Financial Reports • Annual Revenue Estimate is$7,021,200,YTD Actuals are$3,178,323.41 in Sales Tax • 5.77%above budgeted revenues • February 2019$505,789 was budgeted,actually collected$549,729.68 • Summary of Appropriations and Expenditures:Amended Budget$7,085,519.69,Expenditures$2,557,026 Susie Luna Saldana excused herself at 3:19 p.m.,for a previous commitment. Budget Review Pat Eldridge presented a copy of the FY 2019-2020 Proposed Budget to each Board member. The additional projects for FY20 are the in-car video system and the flashlights for the new 9mm weapons. Peter Collins gave a brief overview of the in-car video project. The patrol rifle program will continue with funds available to purchase 20. The Board requested staff to see if 20 is enough if we plan on a class of 35. Mental Health Issues in the Community Assistant Chief Mark Schauer explained that officers have gone through a Crisis Intervention Training. Next year Memorial Hospital is scheduled to be demolished which is the place Officers now take their mental commitments. They are working with Spohn on this issue The department has one full time officer they have paired up with a MHID employee who ride together working on calls trying to deescalate and work with officers as an information conduit.
