BASEMENT CITY HALL- TRAINING ROOM Members Present: Leon Loeb W. L. Hermis Isaac Valencia Larry Baker Danny Mora Linda Bridges Others Present: Police Chief P. Alvarez,Jr. Cmdr. Bryan Smith Pat Eldridge Mariah Boone Sr. Officer R. McNorton President Loeb called the meeting to order. He stated that the meeting was called to hear reports from staff and comments from the public on recent gang violence events. Cmdr. Smith reviewed what the Corpus Christi Police Department was doing in response to the recent gang activities. He said the involvement of the Crime Control District's resources in dealing with the problems include the J.E.T. officers, Directed Patrol Program, Crime Scene Techs, Dispatchers, Crime Analysts all of which are involved in the investigation. He told the Board that Reynosa Street is in the Arboleda neighborhood, which is in the Martin Citizen Advisory Council area. The "La Gloria" and "New Addition" residents have become very active in the citizen advisory council and as a result a number of different problems have been addressed in the areas. Cmdr. Smith said Sr. Officer McNorton would be scheduling a meeting early next week at Holy Family Church in the Arboleda area. Chief Alvarez spoke in response to Mr. Loeb's question regarding gang organization. The Board received public comment. The Board requested staff to present an overview of the Youth Opportunities United comprehensive strategy for their August meeting. With no further business,the meeting adjourned at 10:50 a.m. SCANNED
