Crime Control and Prevention District 410

Ms. Bridges called the regular Board meeting to order at 2:32 pm. She introduced two new
board members, Keith Rose(Melody Cooper)and Diane Gatica(Javier Colmenero) and
welcomed them to the board. The minutes were approved, Mr. Baker moved, Mr. Hermis
second.
Angie Menchaca from Finance reviewed the Treasurers Report. Cmdr. Smith asked about why
the March revenues were down. Ms. Bridges asked if this could be a part of the trend now being
experienced by the State, a downward trend in revenues. She asked if the Finance office could
prepare a 5 year revenue history by month to see if the month of March was always low. She
further asked Finance to keep an eye out on the revenue trends.
Ms. Bridges asked to have the financial impact of the Police Officers contract be summarized for
the next meeting.
Richard Arkwright and Andre Vicknair of the Crime Stoppers Board made a presentation and a
request for funds to replenish the reward fund for Campus Crime Stoppers. Ms. Bridges asked if
the reward monies would be for this school year or next. Ms. Vicknair stated next year. Mr.
Baker moved, Mr. Hermis second to give Campus Crime Stoppers $2,500. The motion passed.
Ms. Boone stated the 2003 Title V funds are intact and once the application is approved, the
funds will be received. It is funded through July 31, 2004. Next years funding still remains
questionable.
Ms. Bridges stated the appreciation plaque for Leon Loeb is almost ready and she would like to
present it at next months meeting.
Ms. Bridges will not be able to attend the City Council public hearing on May 27. Mr. Baker
stated he would be available. She stated in our presentation we should be sure to state that we
maintained the Pawn Shop Detail and an Office Assistant. Ms. Eldridge also mentioned that the
City Council will approve or reject the budget on June 17.
Cmdr. Smith reviewed the ongoing projects. He mentioned the Lamar neighborhood clean up,
Northside Manor Art Studio, and Chula Vista which is the first truly integrated city cleanup
program_ Cmdr. Smith distributed the street lighting costs for Chula Vista. Mr. Baker asked if
the crime rate was going down due to our presence. Chief Alvarez stated there is a declining
trend nationwide. Ms. Bridges mentioned a presentation she had seen at an RTA meeting about
residents perception of crime, She will forward a copy.
The next meeting will be June 18, 2003.
Ms. Bridges adjourned the meeting at 3:40 pm. SCANNED
