Ms. Bridges called the regular Board meeting to order at 2:37 pm. There wa f£� 6 it.

present at that time and Ms. Bridges proceeded to a review of Financials.
Constance Sanchez from Finance reviewed the Treasurers Report. Ms. Bridges asked if the sale
of scrapped property were wrecked/auctioned patrol units; Ms. Eldridge said Yes. She also asked
about the temporary services charges at the Juvenile Assessment Center. Mariah Boone stated it
would be covered by the salary attrition.
Ms. Eldridge reviewed the attrition history of the Police Department. The Board had a concern
that the General Fund was not adding officers since the Crime Control District funded the 50. In
previous years,the City added officers at the rate of 1.5 per year.
The annexation of Padre Island was discussed. Ms. Eldridge stated the City had annexed an
estimated 4 miles in 2001 and had increased the PD overtime budget by $120,839 to provide for
overtime officers during peak calls for service hours.
A quorum was present at this time. The minutes from November 19 were approved; moved by
Mr. Pool, second Mr. Hermis.
Cmdr. Smith reported on the activity of the Directed Patrol Officers. He further stated they are
working very well with the new neighborhood revitalization program with Code Enforcement.
Ms. Bridges asked what the 2004 schedule was; Yvonne Haag from the program delivered an
event schedule.
Mariah Boone reviewed the Juvenile Assessment Center and again stated the grant funding is not
available for 2004/2005.
The next meeting agenda will cover:
• FY 0405 Budget Adoption calendar
• CY 2004 meeting dates
• Neighborhood Initiative Program Projects for CY 2004
• 5 year budget projections
The next meeting will be January 21, 2004.
The meeting adjourned at 3:30 pm.
