Ms. Bridges called the Public Hearing to order at 6:30 pm and asked for public comment. ew
Schwartec asked what the purpose of the group was so he could have a better idea.He asked for a copy of
the budget.
Ms. Bridges closed the public hearing at 6:40 pm.
Ms. Bridges called the regular meeting to order at 6:41 pm.
The minutes from the meeting of 3/11/04 were approved, moved by Mr. Baker,second by Ms. Alexander.
Motion approved.
Cmdr. Smith reviewed the current projects. Debbie Marroquin from the budget office updated the
situation on the loss of Title V funds for the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Debbie Marroquin reviewed the 5 year projected budget. Mr. Baker asked if there was any further
discussion to not renewing the Pawn Shop Detail. Ms. Bridges stated she had not received any negative
comments. Mr. Schwartec raised his concerns regarding the City not addressing the attrition issue, which
cuts into the overall effect of the District's 50 officers. Ms. Bridges and Cmdr. Smith stated that the issue
was brought to the City Council at the last presentation in March.
Ms. Bridges called for approval of the proposed FY 0405 budget. Moved by Mr. Baker, second by Ms.
Alexander. Motion approved.
Cindy O'Brien reviewed the Treasurers Report and stated that across the state the sales tax revenue is an
estimated 8%hire than last year. Ms. Bridges inquired about the street lighting and outstanding bills.
Cmdr. Smith reported that the 28 radars purchased by the District are all installed in vehicles,with 7
currently out for repair. The units are rotated throughout the City and are not fixed to one area of town.
Ms. Bridges stated the budget will go to Council sometime the end of May, but she is not sure. She will
have the calendar emailed to the Board.
Ms. Bridges shared a recent article from a Del Mar publication on the Northside Art Project
Mr. Schwartec stated there would be a press conference regarding a new project to be implemented
regarding the issue of prostitution.
