The minutes from the meeting of 4/21/04 were approved with changes, moved by Mr. Pool,second by Mr. Baker . Motion approved. Cmdr. Smith reviewed the current projects. The Neighborhood Improvement Project(NIP)and the Directed Patrol activity were reviewed. Cmdr. Smith also stated the Police Athletic League(PAL) program has had tremendous growth and is the largest program in Texas based on the number of participants(over 500 kids). Mr. Bennis reported he attended the last NIP meeting on Rickey Street and it was well attended by the public. Mariah Boone reported they are gathering their data for the annual report on the Juvenile Assessment Center. There was discussion regarding increased criminal,drug,and gang activity within the City and what the District could do to help with the problem. Cindy O'Brien reviewed the Treasurers Report. Sales tax collection is up$80,000 over the budgeted figure for the year. She will also look into the overage in fuel expenses as it may possibly be due to higher prices. Ms. Eldridge stated the City Council public hearing is scheduled for June 8. Ms. Bridges adjourned the meeting at 3:20 pm. SCANNED I
