Ms. Bridges called the regular meeting to order at 2:35 pm.
The minutes from the meeting of 7/21/04 were approved,moved by Mr.Pool,second by Ms. Alexander. Motion
approved.
Constance Sanchez reviewed the Treasurers Report. Revenue is still up slightly from budget. She stated the overall
budget had been overspent by$42,297 mainly in org 11711. Ms. Eldridge stated she is looking into the fuel. Ms.
Sanchez stated the salary overage was due to an increase in group insurance benefits.
Debbie Marroquin reviewed OMB's year-end figures and the changes in FY 0405 due to insurance increases. Keith
Rose asked for updated figures on health insurance.
Lt. Heidi Frese reviewed the Neighborhood Initiative Programs 0304 statistics. Ms. Bridges asked why the graffiti
proof film was not affixed in NIP II—V,only in NIP I. Cmdr. Smith will check on this. Ms. Bridges stated the
District have funds in the past for the film and wondered if they had used the entire product purchased. Lt. Frese
stated there was a greater presence in the North Side area that resulted in 74 arrests since August 9,primarily on
warrants and possession. She stated they are doing residential surveys in the same area to gather info to assist the
Directed Patrol Officers. She stated the greatest problem is homeless individuals.
Ms. Eldridge stated the Pawn Shop employees have been placed in other positions and the Juvenile Enforcement
Team has occupied the office.
Cmdr.Smith distributed the sworn officers attrition history. He stated the current actual strength is 425 without
cadets. Ms. Bridges asked to research the legislation on whether or not the City is supplanting by continuing to cut
back on the academies and the number of cadets hired. She would like to have the joint meeting with City Council
in October.
Ms. Bridges adjourned the meeting at 3:38 pm.
