CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT

The meeting was called to order at 2:30 p.m. by Mr. Pool.
A motion was made by Mrs. Alexander and second by Mrs. Soto to approve the minutes of
February 15, 2006. Motion passed.
Cindy O'Brien gave the treasurers report, she stated that the revenues were $84,000 higher than
budgeted or 3.4 % higher than projected. Expenditures were also below the percentage for the
year.
Members explained that after speaking with their respective council members the election date
for the renewal of the Crime Control District in November 2006 for 10 years was exceptionally
received. A motion was made by Mrs. Alexander and second by Mr. Johnson. Motion carried,
5/0.
Armando Chapa spoke about the election costs stating it will cost more than currently budgeted
for 0607. The amount budgeted was $75,000 and he suggested $120,000. The board agreed to
modify the 2006-2007 budget to $120,000 for election costs.
Ms. Eldridge stated the public hearing on the 0607 budget will be on Wednesday, April 19, 2006
at 6pm. She will verify with city secretary to see if the conference room is available at that time.
Joseph Harney, Police legal advisor, recommended that the City Secretary be the Public
Information Officer for the Crime Control District. A motion was made by Mrs. Alexander and
second by Mr. Johnson. Motion carried, 5/0.
Sr. Officers Mike Alanis and Jose Olivarez reviewed the Campus Crime Stoppers program.
They additionally requested the purchase of a field laptop for access to the Crime Stoppers
System. Board requested that they review specs for purchase of laptop with John Spiess, City
MIS. Consideration of the purchase will be placed on the next meeting agenda.
Mariah Boone reported that the JAC(Juvenile Assessment Center) is doing well.
At the next monthly meeting, a public information video will be shown. Length: approximately
one hour
