CITY HALL, 6TH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE Members Present Daniel Dain Scott Kucera Estela Garcia Nancy Nemer Wilbur Hermis Susie Saldana Domingo Ibarra David Sauceda Scott Kucera called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. The minutes of June 20, 2007 were approved as printed. Finance explained that the revenue is at 102% of budget, with a $92,000 surplus. Expenditures are at 86% actual and we are 91% into fiscal year. Eddie Houlihan reported that a revised 10 year plan accounting for the new revenue passed by the State will be presented in October. Estimated revenue increase will be $400, 000—500,000. Valarie Villarreal gave a short history of the Juvenile Assessment Center. She also gave an update on the summer life skills classes at 3 locations. She explained that this program has made 320 contacts by 1 case manager. The next meeting of the board will take place at the Juvenile Assessment Center. Chief Bung stated the graffiti truck is operational and explained that the new graffiti ordinance is scheduled for council action on August 21, 2007. He explained that the changes to the ordinance are as follows: • Proactive eradication- The proactive eradication provides less waiting periods, giving owners 7-10 days after owner given notice to clean up graffiti. • The board verbally agreed to allow$7,000 for more chemicals for truck. Chief Smith reviewed the history of the Crime Control District program as well as the financial history. Mr. Kucera asked if a Graffiti coordinator position could be brought back. An estimate of costs will be presented at the next board meeting. Chief Smith reviewed the taser project along with a presentation by Sgt. Billy Collins. Sgt. Collins showed the taser device along with a video of taser use. Abel Alonso expressed his appreciation for the good work the Crime Control board has done. He also would like to give a presentation at the next board meeting in September on drugs, gang and violence. SCANNED The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
