HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Crime Control And Prevention District - 09/19/2007 i✓ N MINUTES CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WEDNESDAY,SEPTEMBER 19,2007 _ CITY HALL, 6TH FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM RECEIVED FEB 1 0 ?C G Members Present Daniel Dain David Morris CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE Wilbur Hermis Susie Luna-Saldana Domingo Ibarra David Sauceda Scott Kucera Scott Kucera called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. A motion was made by Mrs. Saldana and second by Mr. Morris to approve the minutes of August 15, 2007 as printed. Motion carried, 7/0. Cindy O'Brien gave the Finance Directors report. Pat Eldridge explained that funding for the graffiti coordinator position as well as the Staff Assistant position was needed. She explained that both positions are at a mid level salary, since that is the highest salary that the chief can approve. A motion was made by Mrs. Saldana and second by Mr. Ibarra to approve the funding for the graffiti coordinator position as well as the staff assistant starting as of September 19, 2007 through the remainder of the fiscal year with re- evaluation at that time. Total amount approved $124,644. Motion carried. 7/0. Chief Smith explained to the board that the security cameras are in the testing phase and ended up being functional but yet are very bulky. He expressed that in the future he would like to purchase smaller cameras with smaller functions. He would like to purchase cameras with low lights as well as infrared and set up on cellular instead of WIN. He explained that the areas where the cameras are set up, there are no crimes. Valarie Villarreal explained that the Juvenile Assessment Center and the police department have increased the number of curfew violators brought to the JAC. Mrs. Saldana explained to Chief Smith that several break in's have occurried at the Garcia's Tours and business furniture on Ayers street. She explained that police presence is desperately needed there. The next quarterly presentation to the City Council is planned for the October 23 meeting. Abel Alonzo did not attend the meeting; therefore his presentation will be made at the next crime control meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 3:10 p.m. SCANNED
