CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT RECEIVED

Wilbur Hennis called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. No action could be taken due to
the lack of a quorum.
Cindy O'Brien gave the finance Directors report and stated that 58.3% of the year has
expired and that all expenditures are at or below amount that was budgeted. Revenues
are down slightly (10,961) for the year. There is still no word from the Comptroller's
Office regarding the expanded tax base approved by legislation.
The fiscal year 0809 budget will be adopted at the next Crime Control meeting on April
16th at 6:15 p.m.
The amount of$178,226.00 is available in the fund balance and Chief Smith would like
to purchase 55 tasers, a drug canine and a graffiti truck with that money. No action was
taken,but will be placed on next month's agenda.
Lt. Heidi Frese presented a report on the neighborhood leadership council and explained
that there will be upcoming crime prevention topics for block captains training. This is a
similar program to the Citizen Advisory Council established by the District.
Valarie Villarreal explained that the Juvenile Assessment Center is on track and doing
well.
Captain Mark Schauer of the Special Services Division explained that the graffiti
program is running smoothly. The graffiti coordinator, Deanna Morales, was introduced
and spoke briefly on the program and its success.
No public comments.
