Scott Kucera called the meeting to order at 2:33 p.m.
It was mentioned that a correction was needed to the minutes of August 20'h, 2008, 3`"
paragraph. Corrected sentence to read: "Cindy O'Brien gave the financial report and
stated that the revenue was a little under 3% over of what was budgeted." A motion was
made by Mr. Sauceda and second by Mr. Hermis to approve the corrected minutes of
August 20`h, 2008.
Constance Sanchez gave a revised Summary of the financials to the committee. No
questions were asked.
Commander Schauer expressed that the Graffiti task force continues to make arrests and
that they are working with local alarm companies on mounting a camera at locations that
are highly affected by graffiti. Commander Schauer also explained that an additional
graffiti truck is needed to take care of all of the graffiti that is going on around town.
Officer Ben Teed explained to the committee that a second truck would be a great asset
and would help with cleaning up private properties as well as helping with city parks.
Valerie Villarreal explained that the Juvenile Assessment Center is really busy with the
new school year and that the center is fully staffed with social workers.
After a brief discussion, a motion was made by Mrs. Saldana and second by Mr. Hermis
to approve a 1 ton 4 door truck, but the amount not to exceed $50,000.00. Motion
carried, 5/2.
A brief discussion was held on using Crime Control funds to hire 2 additional operators
for the Graffiti truck, fuel, repair, maintenance, and supplies - no action was taken by
the board.
No public comments.
Meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
